When a ghost of an item that requires power will be unplugged upon construction, factoring in ghost powerpoles too, it should show a (visually dithered) unplugged alert. This could be a toggle, or only in remote view, or just a feature

Ah, figured it out, apologies.
There were two locomotive-lacking cargo wagons that were storing the group on them, along with the empty configuration. Destroying them completely wiped them from the group.
