Re: Does this game get harder?
That's totally fair. I've seen some videos on YT of people with "mega factories" ... where do big factories end and they begin? I could see having an interest in building maybe 2 or 3 (or 4) rail lines to new mining sites and scale up to something like 64 belts feeding my factory, but anything ...

Re: Does this game get harder?
In general is there a raw amount of inputs to the factory that I should be aiming for to build a "big factory?"
For example, presently I have 4 belts of iron, 4 belts of copper, 4 belts of uranium, and 4 belts of stone coming in. These belts are fed by multiple electric mines at various ore sites ...

Re: Redundant solar system to restart the reactor.
Fantastic, that was absolutely what I was looking for. I'm an engineer (of sorts) and am really enjoying just playing with the math of the game.

Re: Redundant solar system to restart the reactor.
Thanks.
Do you have a link on how nuclear heat loss works? I've noticed if I have more heat exchangers that it seems (maybe I'm wrong) to both take longer for the core to reach maximum temperature and longer for it to drop in temperature. Is that accurate? I would then assume that it doesn't ...

Re: Redundant solar system to restart the reactor.
I got it. So the more of them that I kill the stronger they become? Does that scale linearly? Infinitely?

Re: Does this game get harder?
I think I took too much time in the beginning of the game designing a scalable solution and took all the fun out of it.
The difficulty scaling in the game is exponential as angramania pointed out. So you can get to a point where there's a huge spike in difficulty that you catches you off ...

Re: Redundant solar system to restart the reactor.
Thanks! Quick question so I don't have to make another thread... how do biters work exactly?
Originally I walked all around killing every nest I found. Now they've come back. A moment ago I saw a nest that was within the range of the satellite at my uranium mining camp. Like I could literally ...

Re: Redundant solar system to restart the reactor.
What's Vulcanus? I have Space Age but haven't played it, yet. I wanted to get the vanilla experience first. I'm assuming it's that?

TL;DR
Create a system to make the planet feel alive and give players random objectives that have random rewards.
What?
The concept of crash landing on a planet is super cool but the player is totally isolated. I propose that a "community" is created that the player can "talk to" -- i.e., the ...

Re: Is this normal?
I appreciate the vagueness. I'm enjoying the game immensely and playing at my own pace. I know I can go faster, or expand more quickly, but it's fun just min/maxing my existing setup. I was intending to double or triple my output of red circuits in order to start tending towards automating purple ...

Re: Is this normal?
Can you expand on what you mean by engineering problem, and how much more am I realistically going to have to scale? It would appear as though I can push through to automating yellow and purple science whenever I want to, and I would naively assume that I have enough resources available to complete ...

Re: Redundant solar system to restart the reactor.
I haven't played with monitoring systems, or circuit networks, etc., yet. It's on my list of things to do, however I do agree with you. My intent wasn't to create a system that can operate indefinitely, my intent was to create a system that can be restarted easily without manual intervention. I.e ...

The first 4 combined use 25 iron and 10,5 copper.
The next 2 will use 85 iron and 70 copper.
So your next lesson the game wants to teach you is scaling up - a lot.
I think normally the starting resources will not carry you past the rocket launch. But it's ...

This area was completely clear the last time I played and when I reloaded it now has a nest, but it shows that they aren't aggressive or looking for my base... which is right next to them?

Re: Does this game get harder?
Even without SA(space age) first 4 science packs are just warmup. It is not even quarter of a game. Each of the next two science packs requires twice more than first four combined. After that there is final challenge in classic and just beginning in SA. So yes, game will became much more complex ...

Re: Does this game get harder?
All good, thanks. I figured it was going to take a mod and that it was intentional. Great base building game but I figured I had reached the plateau and wanted to be sure.

Redundant solar system to restart the reactor.
First time with nuclear and decided to create a separate grid for the reactor, assembler, centrifuges, inserters, and uranium mines that are all powered by solar in case of emergency. I was hesitant to completely destroy my coal plants and wanted a way to restart everything without needing to ...

Does this game get harder?
I just automated blue and black science and have fifteen labs going all the time. First time I've ever made blue or black science in a game. Aliens have been completely nonexistent for most of the game. My pollution is so low that they don't seem to be spawning. Do things suddenly get crazy as I ...
