Re: Electric energy
I like water tubings and also lakes and would never choose waterless world. So? That's how -you- play the game, every player has their preference. I like lots of water in my worlds too but my next playthrough (waiting for 0.15) I think I'll have a small patch in starting area only and a modular bas...

Re: Moving Fortress
Such a feature would have quite a lot of flexibility. You could have a portable factory, a Fun-Sized Mobile Agony and Death Dispenser covered in turrets that you can just walk around, maybe a portable mining setup, etc. There would be quite a lot of things to consider though... How would it interact...

Re: Toggle from crafting to one-time logistic requests
This is a fantastic idea, lose track of how many times I just want ONE roboport or refinery or something, so I set up a logistic request and 5 get delivered before I can fix it. +1 for just using the same screen and having a separate key binding to request instead of craft, Lazy Bastard players can ...

Re: Rail signals should act the same to auto and manual trains
Are there any actions that use the Shift key while you're actively driving a train? Train is classified as a vehicle which doesn't really affect the controls that much other than for movement. So Shift is still used for things like placing ghost entities etc but not sure if this would cause a confl...

Re: Natural Gas - the option before Nuclear
Question is, why? 20 steam engines is enough to get you to solar, a few hundred solar panels (plus accumulators) doesn't take up too much room and is a good mid-game power. Go to nuclear before you start needing acres of solar fields (ie production enough for four laden blue belts of iron and copper...

Re: Electric energy
Why are you so hung up on steam? Been there, done that, want something different. Besides this would mess with any map generation with "Starting area only" for water frequency as you're basically cut off from your end-game power. Nuclear will hopefully pose a tricky logistical challenge, b...

Re: New Achievement Ideas
Ground Embargo: Do not lay a single belt. I intend to do a pure logistic run come 0.15 =D because now that I build my factory around a central belt channel it's all a bit samey and I only need about a hundred logistics bots (until I walk in and they try to deliver 500 belts, 250 miners, 400 rails, a...

Re: Transport belts should stack in numbers of 100
+1 I usually keep logistics stocking me with 500 belts just because I'm -always- using them, and not always within logistic range. An outpost will easily burn through most of that on a large deposit. It's helpful now that power armour gives more inventory space but a needing whole row dedicated to b...

Re: Why is the water level low?
Hmmm I might have been using red belts so of course the inserters burn through their fuel trying to grab coal but missing because the belt is too fast. I swapped them out for electric ones which allowed me to feed boiler to boiler which was better for the layout of the land in that particular game.

Re: Windfall Oil
Yeah... my first game I had two pumpjacks and I never ran out. Granted I didn't finish the game because my factory setup was appalling (as with most players' first game I imagine). Still, you can start with huge and rich ore deposits and you'll pretty much never need to go hunt for more, oil not so ...

Re: New game plus!
Yeah but every player will have a different idea of how this should pan out. Mods are a good way to get more fun out of the game once you're bored of vanilla and have all the achievements, there are mods that make it a lot more difficult and you can use the console to spawn in items. I think when 0....

Re: New logitic chest type: construction requester chest
Actually instead of this I would like to see construction bots carrying more than one of an item. If there is more than one of an item waiting for a construction bot and there is enough of that item in the pickup chest, the construction bot should be able to collect up to its maximum capacity then g...

Re: Rail signals should act the same to auto and manual trains
This one is probably a bug, but... I've had an automatic train rushing up my rear, and smash clean through the back few carriages of my train before. It was like... Argh, that train must really hate me! At which point I then reloaded from the last autosave, because, through no fault of my own, an a...

Re: Distribution of repair packs all over the base
Also if you just fill up a roboport, when the repair bot is finished it will try to return but the roboport doesn't have enough room for the repair packs! I'm not actually sure what the bot would do in this case =s probably try to drop it off at a storage chest or something. Personally I don't find ...

Re: Electric energy
Factorio could take best things from reality and something from imaginary. There is no obligation to make exact simulation of real world... Why just nuclear power should be more realistic than other things in the game? I think that it is quite unrealistic that animal species would mutate to thousan...

Re: World gen., research
1 - World generation is a bit of an oddball. I created my last save with Very Low oil frequency, and I ended up having to use a console command to find a second oil field. Scanning 2048 tiles I think in each direction I found three right up in the corner, so very far away. Once I knew it was there i...

Re: How does the logistic auto trash work?
Yeah I can't say I had difficulty working it out. Go to the tab, hmm there is an empty square. Doesn't let me drop something in, that's silly, probably a clicky thing then. Yep, here's the item table. Go away wood. Odd, I've still got a stack in my inventory. Oh hey there's a number next to the wood...
