Congrats on 1.0! This game has become absolutely amazing since the pre-alpha version! It's probably one of the most stable games I have ever seen and it devours my life when I play it
Keep on making quality games and putting that extra effort into them!

Re: Are Bitters unnecessary?
Cover the world in biters with rapid expansion . So much that expanding costs huge amounts of resources. Now make resources dense but medium size. You will struggle to get what you need to survive and just expanding requires a large economy.

Re: Friday Facts #293 - New remnants 2 & 1.0 Marketing plan
What's a magazine? That from the old days of analog news? Your probably better off paying streamers, sponsoring some factorio competitions with prizes that will get free news coverage, and tournaments. Everyone has ad blockers so they won't see your ads anyways. Your game has news worthy appeal if y...

Re: I feel hollow after finishing a game of Factorio.
Play death world and try to survive. I too got bored during previous versions due to lack of military focus. Their improvements make a world of bugs actually fight able without turret creep. Spread your resources out and make them rare so you have to invade enemy territory to survive. I have a game ...

Re: [16.36] When walking everything seems Jumpy and not smooth - Running Linux Mint
When I walk around everything just seems jumpy. I have gigabytes of RAM free, only using 75% of GPU memory, GPU usage is at 15%, 4 CPU's are under 75%. I am running Linux Mint 17.3 (Ubuntu). The game played fine last version. Nothing is crashing or giving errors but its hurting my eyes. https://www...

Re: Friday Facts #225 - Bots versus belts (part 2)
Belts can only input so much into a factory at once. Bots can do infinite. Make it so only X number of bots can input/output from objects. Containers can allow a lot of input/output while factories can only do so many at a time.

Re: Factorio should have DLC.
I'd like to see this as well although they should focus on larger expansion sized dlc instead of the far too frequent EU4 major dlc. One or two dlc a year is good. Then throw in minor music and art related dlc for people who will throw money at that for no reason. Paradox games just overwhelm most o...

Re: Friday Facts #225 - Bots versus belts (part 2)
In real life the reason why we use belts is because it can haul heavy items, move it cheaply, and it uses little energy. Using drones to lift anything of any weight would require very large multi-motor drones which would require a very powerful battery, have shitty battery life, and be hugely energy...

Re: Friday Facts #128 - Back down to earth
I don't think it should work with items but work with raw materials where they are abstractly represented, picking up a single piece of ore(lol). Like quickly unloading an ore train into a hopper then unloading the hopper as needed. I don't think they should use chests or crates but a hopper that ca...

Re: Got a problem with a membership
You can proudly say, that you know Factorio from version 0.1, not many people can say that these days :) Even back then you could tell this game was going places. For $10 I got at least 150 hours of gameplay over multiple versions and soon to be more since I can get my friends into this now. Now to...

User reviews will be high in the 90's
Critic reviews will be in the 80's because its not Skyrim graphics and they will complain about the tutorial and lack of hand holding as you progress up the tech tree. All my favorite games are in the 70-80 range of critics.

Re: Friday Facts #117 - Path Finder Optimisation I
Really humans tend to send out scouts/recon to figure out a path to get to a target. That recon team then relays that information to the army and the army will take a path along the path the recon team found. They might change the attack location when closer to the target but if there is a known pat...

Re: Friday Facts #111 - Long term plans
you're already talking about expansions. does this mean you're not planning on supporting the game post-1.0 for free terraria or minecraft-esque (and don't starve, for a while)? or are you thinking multiple years into the future when talking about expansion plans? Add in onto this... Are you going ...

Re: Friday Facts #111 - Long term plans
Was never too happy with the space idea. I want to build my base not play around in space. I would never launch off and "win" the game because I don't want to abandon my base. What I'd like to see is some sort of terraforming device that converts the world into human livable habitat... on ...

Re: Friday Facts #104 - Deadlines ahead
But November is always when the most anticipated games come out, it's quite literally the worst month for indie devs (no indies come out this year either). Looking at the list this year - Need for Speed, Anno 2205, Call of Duty Black Ops 3, Starcraft 2 Legacy of the Void, Fallout 4, Football Manage...
