Re: Friday Facts #411 - All about asteroids
Anyway the reason they are doing all the calculations on the fly instead is because GPUs are stupidly fast in performing such shader tasks. They are basically designed to do nothing else but geometry and pixel transformations. Doing above is probably not even a real processing load for a typical GP...

Re: Friday Facts #411 - All about asteroids
I'm not familiar with graphics rendering, so forgive the basic (and likely confused) question, but I got lost in the transition from Usually for sprites that need to rotate, such as the character or vehicles, we render a separate image for every rotation so the lighting matches up. While this approa...

Re: Friday Facts #393 - Putting things on top of other things
How does quality interact with stacking and filtering? Can a belt splitter split stacks by quality? Are inserters dexterous enough to pick one high-quality item from the bottom of a stack like that trick where you remove a tablecloth without disturbing the plates? Want to highlight this discussion ...

[Host Review] Bad Experience with MCProHosting
Hi all, Just wanted to report a negative experience I had with MCProHosting, a host recommended at www.factorio.com/partners. I've been hosting a small public server on AWS using a t2.small instance and playing with a couple friends lately. Our base has recently reached the 1k SPM mark, all vanilla,...

Re: Could we make non-blocking-saving=true a default on Linux please?
Unfortunately, I think the reliability of this feature is machine dependent. Agree it'd be nice not to have the saving pauses, but there are enough crashes on some machines to keep this feature off by default.
Maybe someone with hard evidence can point to that.

Windows Server Logging
Hi, I am running a headless server on Windows and I have a few question about the logs. First, are there general log level settings? The rest of my questions might be addressed by that. EDIT: I found that there is --verbose command-line option, but the verbose message seem to be related to network c...

Blueprint Delete Confirmation Dialog
TL;DR Make a confirmation dialog box before deleting a blueprint/blueprint book. What ? This comes from me accidentally deleting a blueprint book, thinking that the delete button would apply to a blueprint I was holding, instead of the whole book. Admittedly, the hovertext does say "destroy bl...

Re: Thank you (Make the dev-team happy today!)
Just wanted to say thanks to the Factorio devs (and the Factorio community). Even if I get busy and go away from Factorio for some months, reading the FFF makes me happy. Y'all are a huge inspiration! Keep doing you!

Re: [Crash] Deleting old version of Blueprint Book
Sorry, don't have a save, this was on a multiplayer server. Can't really reproduce it either. I may have jumped to a causal conclusion, it could've been something else that caused the crash.

[Crash] Deleting old version of Blueprint Book
Once I clicked the delete button on an old blueprint book, the game crashed. Log file below. Let me know if I can help more.

Suggestion: Pipette Tool keeps item orientation
This would speed up building from ghosts immensely early on: Q and place, no need to manually check rotation.
