You are correct. This is not a bug.

The Crusher was placed onto the platform, then the inserter picked up another item and attempted to place it.

This caused the crusher to completely blend into the platform.

Hi Factorio Forms, I have found what appears to be a bug and I can replicate it. No such lucking finding this already mentioned in the forms. When viewing a platform which contains a placed Crusher use the Cut functionality to cut a Crusher. The Crusher will not appear in the Platform Hub's inventor...
