I think this should definitely be a feature, yeah
unrelated, but deconstruction can be used to pick up dropped items, you don't need a collection drone, because the construction drones will already do it.

One of the important factors here is the pollution and damage to environment. I was going to make a mockup of an arboretum machine eventually that would be a way to process and place trees, and that would help a lot to reduce pollution. I agree, that way we could protect our pipes that we actually want to keep and craft away the ones in our main inventory, I've had the same problem with things I want getting crafted and having to grab more materials as well

Do you mean the player character? I think his suit is just bulky. He seems like he should be pretty fit if he's an explorer of a new planet and builds a lot of machinery.

I think running over items or cars/enemies wouldn't be a problem for the trains, trains demolish cars all the time in real life, they're pretty sturdy, I guess it's up to the discretion of the devs and the forum debates to decide what's bad and good for trains.

I like this idea, it would be nice to be able to set up conveyors or pipes to a key and just mash it when I need those items. Reminds me of the hotkeying systems in fallout and skyrim.

I agree, that also sounds fine, I think holding backwards should definitely make the effect more pronounced, though. like if you're drifting a little and you jam on the breaks and turning you'll do a nice powerslide to a stop
