Re: [0.17.45] Inconsistent Inserter Behavior Interacting with Underground Belts
This is not a bug, the window for pick-up on underground belts is very narrow and inserter can get stuck chasing items on it in general. Not sure if I was clear enough or you didn't really read my post carefully enough. This is not an issue of too fast for the inserter to keep up because thats not ...

Re: [0.17.45] Inconsistent Inserter Behavior Interacting with Underground Belts
What I'm saying is that its inconsistent behavior, because in every other case, the insert will pick up the item. Only when you are using an underground express belt connected to a belt that is not an express belt in only 1 direction does the inserter not work. I would expect it to be the same wheth...

[0.17.45] Inconsistent Inserter Behavior Interacting with Underground Belts
When a fast inserter tries to pull from an express underground belt but the belt feeding into the underground belt is a fast transport belt or a transport belt the timing of the transition between the speeds of the belts causes the items to speed up and the fast inserter is stuck in a loop of trying...

Re: Friday Facts #282 - 0.17 in sight
- And a kind of dumb suggestion, it would look cool if accumulators would arc electricity to other nearby accumulators. yeah I assumed thats what the original graphics were trying to do - show that they are connected in a grid. maybe combining the animations of multiple accumulators into like a lar...

Re: Friday Facts #282 - 0.17 in sight
With the island terrain changes, will there be other islands on the map to expand to or is it just the one? yeah an archipelago option would be nice also the ability to decide the size of islands relative to each other. then you could have a giant island thats basically a continent on the map this ...

Re: Friday Facts #274 - New fluid system 2
In real life, fluid systems are generally overbuilt for these kinds of scenarios... If you look at household supply pipes ... you'll notice that T and elbow fittings are made of a considerably thicker chunk of material than straight runs for this reason. The effect is called "water hammer"...

Re: Friday Facts #274 - New fluid system 2
In addition to friction, shouldn't the fluid have an inertia ? so that when cornering some energy is lost, and the speed will slow down, increasing pressure build up behind the curve of the pipe. so if you zig-zag pipes it will fill up the backed up fluid slightly faster and slosh around less, or sl...

Re: Friday Facts #275 - 0.17 Science changes
Suggestion to consider for 0.17 Science Changes: TLDR They basically made science cost about 15% less per pack, no oil and about 1.7% less total res compared to 0.16. The changes I propose would only change things slightly to about 14% less per pack, no oil and about 0.53% more total res. Its more ...

Re: Friday Facts #260 - New fluid system
I don't get why flow simulation is so hard? treat the fluid source as the opposite of a black hole or think of the pipe network as a drain. Pipes coming from source, 0, have a negative value -1, -2, -3 etc the farther you get from source the faster the liquid movement speed will increase to a set ma...

Re: Friday Facts #258 - New autoplace
I think while you are redoing map generation you should look into adding rivers. they are simply fractals.
make sure not to put any in deserts or intersecting with ores or cliffs (waterfalls? maybe) and allow them to connect to lakes.
we want boats. this is the first step.

Re: Friday Facts #226 - New mod portal & other news
I'm pretty sure Twinsen spilled out about mod portal already in 'interview' stream with Xtreminator and co. He also spilled out that this FFF was supposed to be third part of belts vs. bots. Yet it's not. Someone is lying or at least manipulating. if true, this doesn't bode well. likely they are wa...

Re: Friday Facts #225 - Bots versus belts (part 2)
Addendum: If that's too far fetched, as an alternative to a teleporter, having a material launcher on one end and a receiver basket on the other, and get the fun of watching products go flying through the air (maybe require level 3 belts built before them to give 'em a 'running start'.). you sir, a...

Re: Friday Facts #225 - Bots versus belts (part 2)
Or as has been mentioned in previous posts, have the belts go underground. Now you only have to have one belt showing with a new texture instead of having to have n layers of belts showing above ground. you miss the entire point of layers is so that you can visually see that more is going on and be...

Re: Friday Facts #224 - Bots versus belts
I just want to be clear. My post earlier was not about attacking the devs, I wanted to provide an analogy that could be easily understood by anyone and the perspective of how this is being handled from the bot players point of view while throwing in a star wars reference. There have been a lot of co...
