Re: Friday Facts #289 - Character GUI

Regarding request/trash thresholds, how about adding inequality signs to indicate the meaning of the threshold?

For a request, write ≥50. For trash, write ≤200. If both are set, write both. If they are set to the same value, merge them and write =100.

Re: Kovarex Energy Price

The initial start-up cost of Kovarex, combined with its huge benefit, just incentivizes not using your U235 at all until you have Kovarex set up.

Re: Belt graphics: one arrow per n tiles

You would have to make different tiles display different frames of the animation based on their position. This is not generically possible. Consider a looping belt over 4 tiles: this can only be displayed correctly if the pattern repeats 1, 2, or 4 tiles. For a looping belt over 6 tiles, the pattern...

Heatpipes act more akin to fluid level than to fluid temperature.

For the higher research levels (roughly around level 4) the new mining is (asymptotic towards) 80% cheaper to research than the old situation. Thus effectively a factor five buff to the mining research. *I compared the total cumulative cost to the total effect I'm getting different results: The cos...

Based on that reasoning, you'd be better off calling them analogue and digital circuits.

Re: Remove the coverage gap between small/med poles

Currently, a small pole does not reach accross a furnace, and a medium pole not accross an assembler. The proposed change would enable these, which would be a significant buff.

Building a furnace on a furnace, a power pole on a power pole, a belt on a belt, etc, probably shouldn't be an error in the first place?

Re: Friday Facts #283 - Prepare to Launch

I think, in 0.16 terms, you shouldn't so much think of 'green science with oil' as 'green science I can't use yet because I need advanced oil processing first'. I'm not sure if that problem is going away with 0.17 as it stands because while solid fuel in blue science is a generic oil sink and makes ...

Would also make it easier to notice your supply of chips/gears is empty, once you have those automated but hand-craft things that require them.

Speaking of the slider ranges: did you decrease the amount of resources you get with the lowest setting? You've included more slider positions for more granularity which is very nice, but as of now the even "very low" has quite a lot of resources. So with the added steps I think "ver...

What is going to happen to existing 0.16 maps during the upgrade? Will these keep using the old noise function after upgrade, and generate new chunks which match the old ones, or will there be sudden transitions like we've seen in the past?

The strange thing is research does use partial potions, and I don't believe normal crafting allows for anything like that.

Re: Why is my circle uneven?

You're probably running into rounding errors in the angle calculation. It may be more reliable to iterate over x and y instead of over the angle.

EDIT: A quick google turns up https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Midpoint_circle_algorithm
