Damn, couldn't find that in the logs. Apologies for the duplicate.
Also... ouch. This ruins the entire novelty base I've been working on for the last 6 months. It's quite the heartbreak.

[0.16.51]Production bonus item does not get awarded until next cycle starts
With a productivity bonus of 30%, 250 coal should yield 650 plastic. (250*1.3*2). It doesn't because the last procutivity bonus cycle isn't complete until the next production cycle starts: https://i.imgur.com/2gRb7UG.png In most factories, this is not an issue as they use a continuous production cyc...

Re: Handling precise fluid amounts... how?
Wow, some deep work there, thanks for joining me on this merry chase!
I'll probably keep a few hundred units of each in the buffers that I'll be using, and find a way to limit the exact number of barrels extracted.

Re: Handling precise fluid amounts... how?
It looks like my prayers have been answered! https://mods.factorio.com/mod/CompressedFluids If I just set the compression rate to 1, this mod won't change anything except for delivering perfect input/output counts between two ends of a pipe. I'll still need to use barrels, but rounding err...

Re: Belt question
I use the cheap ones in situations where they are needed. For instance, burner inserters only pick up from yellow belts, as they are too slow for red and blue. I even have situations where I want to limit throughput.

Re: Choosing train and track sizes
Pro: better intersection and station performance (basically you are sending 1-4-1 trains through with zero space between) Eer, no. As far as intersections are concerned a long train is not the same as several short trains. Because it can obviously not create a gap in the middle like seperate trains...

Re: Choosing train and track sizes
Using longer trains makes for simpler designs in some cases, and reduced load on intersections. To also simplify the stations, you could make a long train that is basically 4 (or more, who's counting?) 1-4-1 trains connected to eachother, resulting in a 1-4-2-4-2-4-2-4-1. The station would be a 4-wa...

Re: Handling precise fluid amounts... how?
I'm not sure this will change error handling... but it'll need to be re-tested for sure!

Re: Handling precise fluid amounts... how?
A few things come to mind: Perhaps load your excess surplus and send them into outer space along with the rocket.. lol You could also burn off some fluids with a boiler, or use recursive blueprints to decon your pipes and tanks and completely empty them between trains. If it were me I would experim...

Re: Choosing train and track sizes
Re: starting train lengths: I have great experiences using 1-4-1 trains, both locs pointing the same direction. Having only one loc up front allows for more compact station designs, and you still get the speed you need. They're even a little faster than the 3-8's you are considering. A properly desi...

Re: Handling precise fluid amounts... how?
Did some experimenting last night and found a couple of weird behaviors re: pump outputs. Some of it looks useful: - A pump will never hold on to more than 100 units of fluid if given a choice. - A pump is limited by the fill level at the output. If it's connected to a storage tank (and nothing els...

Re: Handling precise fluid amounts... how?
IIRC not all of the fluid math is visible in the GUI, I think there are fractions not represented on screen. If so, I don't know how you will achieve such precision, but your end goal may still be achievable. What are you wanting to end up with? A completely empty supply train for every rocket? Giv...

Re: Handling precise fluid amounts... how?
Use barrels. Just don't build a pipe between the unbarreling assembler and the pump. Attach the pump directly to the assembler, otherwise some micro-amounts of liquid will remain in the pipes, perfectly breaking your perfect count. Personally I would expect that even in that case, floating point er...

Re: Handling precise fluid amounts... how?
Basically - I doubt that much would be lost even if there were floating-point errors, and I doubt that anywhere near 200 units will get stuck in the pump. Well, I stopped and started the setup above a bunch of times, and it kept going up. I was at 68 units stuck in there when I stopped, after 5 min...

Re: Handling precise fluid amounts... how?
None of this is what you want to hear, but I'm not aware of any way to get count-perfect fluid processing. You might try single-tick pump pulses (maybe 1 tick on and then 9 off?) but I expect that will have similar issues to using barrels. Optera's Inventory Sensor will give you different measureme...

Re: Handling precise fluid amounts... how?
Thanks, but I tried that and explain in the OP why that doesn't work. I see where you showed your attempt not working, but I don't see any attempt to explain (or understand) why. Getting every drop of liquid out of a container is a specialized task IRL too, in Factorio you use assemblers for that. ...
