cltr right click is a bad idea because shift right clicking on a blueprint erases it, so if you were rushing you could accidentally delete a blueprint. all things in factorio are done by the item in hand, even eating fish is done by the same process as throwing grenades. the only actions with differ...

Shift-right-clicking in the world (or in zoomed-in map view) with an empty cursor should create an empty blueprint in-hand. but if the rail where on the bottom that wouldn't quite give the correct direction, as a rail segment has 2 directions. If the arrow which is there when the rail planner has detected a possible path, were still there to show direction, but turned red, or perhaps with the existing red x on top of it....

You can just drop modules by ctrl+ clicking beacons. this only works if you have enough modules in your inventory. If empty blueprints stacked more than 1, it would be super useful. the only time empty blueprints is frustrating is when my inventory is jammed full of empty paper.

Um... this breaks all sorts of things.
I believe the proper response to "my inserters are loading the incorrect materials onto trains" should be something along the lines of, "You can set an item type filter of a cargo train the same way you set your hotbar".
