My honest unfiltered opinion:
This feels like someone played a few MMOs and thought, hey, how do we lure MMO players into playing our game - maybe with those needlessly grindy and boring features that they for some reason like in MMOs?

For the record I'm getting the popup warning about achievements every single time I'm changing versions manually using the Steam client so I don't think that's related to the other issues you're having.

I'm a bit sad that 1.1.19 was marked stable when the last bit of the translations wasn't included. This means that a few of the tips and tricks text are not translated in the stable version (and that the languages has a "99%" mark in the language selection menu).

None that I know of but I'd love the opportunity, especially since the slow-down post release. I'm still fine tuning the translations and seeing it in-game helps a lot for context.
