Delighted and excited

Omg omg omg WANT! This morning my kid comes to me, saying “Hey, you know how you grumble each time you expand “Delivery Cannon Row” in our K2SE game? _They fixed that_” To which I reply with a pause, then realization that it’s Friday, and blurt out “parameterized blueprints?!?!” (No, I hadn’t read t...

Re: Friday Facts #384 - Combinators 2.0

Wonderful! The selector and improved decider will eliminate a lot of my torturous (and largely un-fun) combinator sprawl! The bulk of what will be left will be arithmetic chains. Hmm. Any chance that arithmetic combinators could have a decider-type upgrade as well? To be able to handle multiple arit...

Re: Industrial Revolution 2 discussion

Both my kids and I would like to send a huge thank-you to Deadlock for re-releasing Industrial Revolution. My only quibble has been that it's so much fun, it's distracted my elder kid from modmaking attempts for the time being! :)

Re: Friday Facts #282 - 0.17 in sight

Having 0.17.6 up and running on my machine now, I'm trying to figure out the right collection of options to reproduce the "3 Islands / PvP Islands" picture.

Is that doable with the vanilla interface, or is some modding required?

[0.17.5] game fails to start (macOS Sierra)

I'm still having problems in 0.17.5 that look like the 0.17.4 ones. It gets to the "Cropping bitmaps" stage and then hits an "Unexpected error occurred": 0.000 2019-03-04 23:45:28; Factorio 0.17.5 (build 43269, mac, alpha) 0.000 Operating system: macOS 10.12.6 0.000 Program argum...

Re: [0.17.4] game fails to start (macOS Sierra)

I'm still having problems in 0.17.4, but at least they're different problems! Now it looks like the problem that karock screenshotted above, with an error similar to the ones karock posted earlier: 0.000 2019-03-01 15:06:12; Factorio 0.17.4 (build 43174, mac, alpha) 0.000 Operating system: macOS 10....

Re: [0.17.0] game fails to start (macOS Sierra)

I tried again with 0.17.3, and the problem still exists.

(Etiquette question: Should such notes go as replies on this thread, even though it's marked 0.17.0, or be posted in a new thread with a 0.17.3 tag?)

FWIW, I found some additional information on working around the __ZTISt18bad_variant_access issue: https://stackoverflow.com/a/53868971

Re: [0.17.0] game fails to start (macOS Sierra)

I encountered this thread due to the same issue (macOS Sierra running Factorio 0.17.1 encounters "DYLD, [0x4] Symbol missing" for symbol __ZTISt18bad_variant_access). I don't have any additional llvm installed. I tried 0.17.2 and got the same error as 0.17.1 produced (modulo differences in...
