Re: Reactor network setup
There is a slightly easier way to guarantee that you only ever put one cell in. Set up your reload condition on one inserter set to remove the spent fuel cell from the reactor. Wire a circuit to the inserter, reading hand contents. Wire that to the inserters that put fuel into the reactors. Give ...

Possibly because you are filling the internal power buffer of the radar that was depleted during the night.

Re: Have you ever used the sandbox mode ?
I felt there was something off in the wording but i'm not native english and the "Do you ever use(present tense) the sandbox?" feel very unatural to me.
"Do you ever use the sandbox?" is absolutely natural and normal English. It refers to present (or recent past) habit, and asks nothing about ...

Re: Have you ever used the sandbox mode ?
The first and third options clash because of the different tenses. For one of the answers to be 'No, I use (present tense) the editor instead', the question should really be 'Do you ever use (present tense) the sandbox?' With the question as it is ('Have you ever used') the answer offered needs to ...

Re: Acid neutralizarion is 10x too fast.
Not even the power boost on Vulcanus can make solar a viable primary power source.
It's not the power boost that's most important (though it certainly helps) but the hugely reduced materials cost. On Nauvis, even ignoring the space requirements, the capital cost is very large. Solar power ...

Re: Acid neutralizarion is 10x too fast.
You obviously use the method that works best. That's why balance is important so that the tradeoffs lead to varied factory designs that are actually competitive.
Indeed. And I think that currently solar and acid neutralisation are well balanced on Vulcanus: if you have spare space, build solar ...

Re: Acid neutralizarion is 10x too fast.
So just use solar, which is extremely cheap to build on Vulcanus. The only downside is the space requirement (but even that is still much less than on Nauvis).Stargateur wrote: Sun Jun 08, 2025 6:09 pm if you ask me, this way to generate power on vulcanus is broken and unfun.

It takes each combinator 1 tick to process input to output. If you want to make sure that you are comparing results from the train contents at the same instant, your two chains of combinators have to be the same length. If one is a step longer than the other you can insert a 'dummy' step before ...

That's 50% relative boost per cycle, not per successful quality raise, and you average multiple cycles for each level.mrkev wrote: Mon May 19, 2025 1:46 pm 50% boost per stage for 3 stages (you are not receiving boost for normal and legendary quality) is 1,5^3 = 3.375 and 3.375/4 = 0.844, which is still less than 1.

Re: How to upcycle?
when you recycle underground pipes, you'll get both pipes and some iron. You can then make more pipes from that iron (in a assembly plant), which will give you slight boost. The whole question is, whether this boost is enough to get pass the problem with the double recycling. Because if you get a ...

Re: Upcycler statistical bias
Recent posts about quality has reminded me of a problem I observed in quality production: if you afk for long enough and leave an upcycler running, there will be a significant bias in leftover products that strongly suggests the recycler output distribution being biased.
Don't forget that even ...

Re: (ICE) Asteroid spawn above Nauvis
spawned asteroids are drawn to the center of the map, so if you build a platform whose collectors completely cover the whole perimeter, you collect them all. No matter how large the perimeter.
So for a stationary platform the task is to find the smallest platform that covers all the perimeter ...

Two foundries casting steel + one foundry to melt the iron can do the work of roughly 30 electric furnaces smelting steel and the 150 furnaces needed to smelt all the iron needed for said steel. While at the same time also consuming just over a quarter of the iron ore.
Make that 30 furnaces ...

Where do people like to make purple science in late game (after the "win")? It requires a lot of stone, which rules out Gleba (limited stone), but it also requires lots of plastic, which rules out Vulcanus (limited coal).
I've not got to that point in the game yet, but why not make it on ...

Re: Wasteless nuclear reactor design revisited
A 2x2 reactor is a toy. It behaves very different to a 2x6 reactor, and it gets even more different if you use even more reactors.
I think 'toy' is an exaggeration. It's true that larger reactors have more design constraints than smaller ones, so solutions that work for the latter may not be ...
