Re: Is this expected behavior?
It takes each combinator 1 tick to process input to output. If you want to make sure that you are comparing results from the train contents at the same instant, your two chains of combinators have to be the same length. If one is a step longer than the other you can insert a 'dummy' step before ...

That's 50% relative boost per cycle, not per successful quality raise, and you average multiple cycles for each level.mrkev wrote: Mon May 19, 2025 1:46 pm 50% boost per stage for 3 stages (you are not receiving boost for normal and legendary quality) is 1,5^3 = 3.375 and 3.375/4 = 0.844, which is still less than 1.

Re: How to upcycle?
when you recycle underground pipes, you'll get both pipes and some iron. You can then make more pipes from that iron (in a assembly plant), which will give you slight boost. The whole question is, whether this boost is enough to get pass the problem with the double recycling. Because if you get a ...

Re: Upcycler statistical bias
Recent posts about quality has reminded me of a problem I observed in quality production: if you afk for long enough and leave an upcycler running, there will be a significant bias in leftover products that strongly suggests the recycler output distribution being biased.
Don't forget that even ...

Re: (ICE) Asteroid spawn above Nauvis
spawned asteroids are drawn to the center of the map, so if you build a platform whose collectors completely cover the whole perimeter, you collect them all. No matter how large the perimeter.
So for a stationary platform the task is to find the smallest platform that covers all the perimeter ...

Two foundries casting steel + one foundry to melt the iron can do the work of roughly 30 electric furnaces smelting steel and the 150 furnaces needed to smelt all the iron needed for said steel. While at the same time also consuming just over a quarter of the iron ore.
Make that 30 furnaces ...

Re: [SA] Where to make purple science in late game?
Where do people like to make purple science in late game (after the "win")? It requires a lot of stone, which rules out Gleba (limited stone), but it also requires lots of plastic, which rules out Vulcanus (limited coal).
I've not got to that point in the game yet, but why not make it on ...

I am unable to select an area by left click and dragging my mouse.
I have checked the game key bindings, and there is not even a key binding for "select area" present in the menu.
The only select option viable is "Select for blueprint". This is set for Shift + Left click, but using this, does ...

Re: Wasteless nuclear reactor design revisited
A 2x2 reactor is a toy. It behaves very different to a 2x6 reactor, and it gets even more different if you use even more reactors.
I think 'toy' is an exaggeration. It's true that larger reactors have more design constraints than smaller ones, so solutions that work for the latter may not be ...

In my setting I made minimal temperature 550*C
I am sceptical that this is sufficient to maintain uninterrupted power at full load.
It's pretty simple at the 4 core stage once you consider that heat exchangers have the same heat capacity as pipes,
I completely forgot the heat capacity ...

A carpet doesn't really "reflect" light the same way a mirror does. The term I'm used to that describes what they're going for is diffuse scattering.
A mirror produces specular reflections; a carpet produces diffuse reflections; both processes are quite correctly called 'reflection'. The term ...

Re: Wasteless nuclear reactor design revisited
My solution is to keep the reactor temperature above a threshold all the time, so that all heat exchangers always stay in the "working" state. However, it's not sufficient to just insert a new cell if the temperature is below that threshold. You still need a buffer, at least with some bigger multi ...

Re: Confusion about mining productivity and output rate
If I were you I'd ditch the productivity modules.
With no modules or productivity tech, you'd get 20/s output, with the deposit depleting at only 10/s (thanks to the big drills' inherent bonus).
With level 15 productivity tech but still no modules, you have productivity of +150%. The deposit ...

Re: Is active pollution sinking worth it?
A tree is 213% as effective as the biochamber.
But does a biochamber merely remove pollution, like trees (or indeed land surface) do? I read the description as saying that it actually emits negative pollution. That would reduce the global pollution emissions (and hence the rate of evolution) as ...
