Re: Deathworld has lost its Fangs. Factorio needs its own NIGHTMARE mode
IMO the biggest differentiator are the expensive recipes. The rush to flamethrowers, and the steel investment into the flamethrowers was the fun ballbusting part. Afterwards, when scaling up, I perceived oil and circuits as main bottlenecks (both also "solved" in a way, by pipes and by the circuit ...

This was so provocative, I won't manage to not go offtopic hereCyberCider wrote: Sat Aug 30, 2025 10:41 am
Vulcanus is the “rotten egg” of an otherwise really good expansion.

It is literally the best part of the expansion, directly after the QoL stuff.

Re: Inserter Filtering as a Tech Unlock
Filtered item insertion is (imo) a challenge in games, where any item can be inserted anywhere and clog.
Since insertion does not clog on its own either way, I always experienced the filtered inserter as a detriment. It's not as straightforward a "detriment" as you imply it to be, when it is no ...

They would be absolutely viable, if you could void higher quality items in lower tier recipes, otherwise they are not manageable, imo.

And the cherry on top, I personally heard Kovarex say, that when the game is "done" as in Wube does not want to maintain/care for it anymore, it shall get open-sourced, so there is that

Re: Ability for Inserters to downgrade quality
1. Quality is punishing to experiment with. [...] If Quality items build up, they can cause a partial or complete shutdown of the factory. If a player decides they no longer want use quality, they need to go through and completely filter out all quality items previously produced. [...]

Re: Simple Questions and Short Answers
I'm in the middle of building a megabase, i have a question about efficiency modules. Is there a reason to minimize energy consumption of my machines on planets like Vulcan or Fulgora which have passive energy generation and no pollution/spores?
I guess the only limiting factor is the ups. So ...

Re: They need to rename Gleba to Bartleby
As a fellow Gleba disliker, I tend to disagree, that it is hard to debug a Gleba factory. I'd say it's just that it is the first factory after oil, which can fail by running long enough.
I'd say, as soon as you get the concepts going, it's fairly reasonable. The only couple of times where it ...

I have a gut feeling that a grid of heatpipes will be a nightmare performance-wise. On large reactor setups they do take a significant amount of processing power.

I love it, it's a bit hard to remove filtering, but that is not an operation that is needed often.boskid wrote: Fri Jan 31, 2025 8:22 am What do you think about tristate filter mode solution i did in case of loader entities?
Would be great if it was the same for inserters.

Oh, okay then. Yeah, systems-wise SA brings a lot of new fun stuff, totally agreed.
And yeah, youremember correctly, I did perefer vulc, and left gleba for the end. I didn't like the continuos flow stuff, absolutely.
