Hello, it's the same as https://forums.factorio.com/121399 Your PC doesn't keep up with the server update rate, so it skips frames to not have to pause update to copy state needed for rendering from the game state. You need to slow down tick update ... server host (or admin in the game) can run comm...

On my MacBook Air M2 you can see for yourself with a medium base the FPS drops around 40 - but remains very playable Cool, thank you. The screenshot is 2946x2060 but the screen was even larger. That is consistent with my conclusions about "rendering performance issue in high resolution", ...

It was a bug, I asked artists about it (not long after the effect was added), they said it wasn't not intended, but looks cool, so to leave it. It's a feature now :D

Update and render run in parallel, but they have sychnronization point - render preparation, which block both render and update. Disabling options "show smoke", "show particles" and "show decoratives" will remove some work from render preparation ... how much depends on...

It's not GPU issue. It's that your update time is so close to 16 ms, that there is not time to pause update to prepare rendering (more overlays = more time needed to prepare rendering). All that said, I still don't know what's up with FullHD external displays (4K ones with render in native resolution = majority of the performance issue is due to more demanding renderer). To me, that's as if you said "when I stand on one leg and sing national anthem the game stutters" ... ...
