If it drops to 20% of what it was originally, can you somehow see when it has hit that? and if not, can you somehow see what it was originally when its no longer that?

Easiest way to to know energy storage/production for laser turrents
Is there an easier way than to look at what steam turbines/accumulators you have can produce in total, and see if the usage spikes of laser turrets in the power graph reach that high?

You're doing great! Sounds like a very successful first game so far. My first game was horrible in comparison. 70 hours in my current (first) game and still havent done yellow science.....
There have been so much of taking things down to build it new and improved and lots of other stuff.

Based on what someone said I decided to design an 2x4 reactor in Sandbox mode (all water pipes to the right because thats where the water is in my save)

Yes, of course, cause you need so much of them and you need it for green potion. I mean in the time when you use belts but before you set up green science... 4 sets of 2*2 reactors get you 1920 MW 1 set of 2*8 reactors get you 2400 MW So chaining more is definitely worth it. Is your car in real life, or your bike, stops instantly when you hit brake pedal or squeeze the lever ? If the answer is "no", then think again the implicit question in OP There was no question in the OP.... But Does tanks in real life accelerate as fast as the tank with nuclear fuel does...

I think crashing the tank (and indeed the car) into your own base is something of a rite of passage. I've been lucky, the worst I did so far was demolish the chest holding my entire stock of furnaces. And that's why it's best to have a rule of no tanks in the base. Factorio is about automation: you should normally not need to produce more items of one sort by hand. You can use shift to produce as much as possible. I kind of like the fact that right clicking crafts 5. If you need much more than 8 of any given item, and have to handcraft it all, you get annoyed...

When you right click to craft, you craft 5. Why isn't it 10? Clicking 5 is too slow to 1, so if you are going to craft 5 you can just click 5 times. But 10 is a nicer number and more logical to me. if you for example are going to craft 50 of something, you can just press it 5 times instead of 10. A...
