Re: Friday Facts #373 - Factorio: Space Age

Gday from Australia, Great news on the up coming expansion, I've been waiting eagerly for some info. I've only been playing Factorio since 1.18 so I'm relatively young for a Factorio Player, however since then I have logged (checks Steam, gulp) 8400.6 hours playing all the major mods including Krast...

Re: I’ve gotta say hats off to the developers of Factorio. (My thoughts and mini-review of Factorio)

I think you got your chronology slightly off. The 1MB extended memory and 20 MB hard drives belong to the 8086 era (my dad's first computer was a 8086 with 1 total MB RAM and a 20 MB HDD - a luxury at that time). IIRC, the 80486 era CPU was usually found with close to 16 or 32 MB RAM, and in the 10...

Interesting read young whipper snapper. I've been playing computer games since 8086 processors were a thing. In those days and the following decade game play was what kept you playing and interested. There were no fancy graphics, you were lucky if you had basic beeps and boops. By the time the 386 c...

Re: I want to play factorio but I lack a goal

OP, I feel your pain, I generally like games with a story and often get bored with sandbox mode. But Factorio once you get into it does create a certain itch that needs to be scratched, in my case I am into this game for over 6500 hours according to steam, yes I need to get a life. I think the answe...

Re: Alt-F4 #55 - The Dark Alleys of Modding

Currently Steam tells me I have over 5800 hours in Factorio. Unlike most of the posters above I have only been playing since 0.18, so 2 years or so and yes I guess that is kind of sad, at leas t my wife would tell me so. That said if it wasn't for all the wonderful mods you guys have provided for th...

Re: Can there ever be a full 3D rendered Factorio?

IMO it would not be worth the time and money investment. The nearest other game I play to Factorio would be Surviving Mars. That has many of the features you speak of in a 3d environment. And sure, it is some impressive eye candy when you zoom in, but when your actually playing the game you spend mo...

Re: The thing that bothers me since game start

I'm sure it happened. The guides are usually adjustable so they can come loose. If the timing between, scrolls, star wheels and machine heads like cappers isn't "just right" it can be quite messy. We made some new star wheels for a line filling plastic bottles with vinegar. At first we had...

Re: The thing that bothers me since game start

The conveyor moving and items staying still is exactly how some conveyors work IRL. Bottling lines in particular work this way. The constant motion of the conveyor pushes the bottles along the line and into the next process. Many of the operations like capping or labeling require the bottle to be ta...

Re: Nauvis New Frontier (Nauvis Post Collapse Version 2.0) Factory Goodies

Hi and thanks to all who are working on this project. I have only just become aware of the new version of this project so sorry for being a late comer the conversation. I downloaded a played this map after Xterminator spotlighted it about a year ago. I have to say I absolutely loved it. I spent abou...

Re: Planning vs Winging it

The only way to win in Factorio is to derive some enjoyment out of the process of building and problem solving. Play how you want. There are a number of you tubers who offer some good advice, there are also some who are way to pedantic with placement and ratios and what not, who basically just suck ...

Re: Isnt Factorio for Casual Players? Help with some tips

ALWAYS PUT 4, PRODUCTIVITY 3 MODULES IN YOUR ROCKET SILO. Hand craft them if you have to. This will reduce the number of parts for the rocket by 40% which is huge when you consider that you would other wise need 1000 each of Light Weight Structures, Rocket Fuel and Rocket Control units. Which are a...

Re: Isnt Factorio for Casual Players? Help with some tips

I don't post around here much so take everything I say as if I was a noob. That said I have nearly 1400 hours in game since I started in October last year (yes I should get out more). I am still learning new things. Factorio is a journey of discovery, of learning how systems work, supply chains and ...

Re: New Character GUI (eye strain)

The only thing annoying me about it at the moment is that screens that have scrolled don't stick. Let me explain. I am playing the Krastorio 2 mod ATM. This has added a ton of stuff to make and do. Consequently the crafting queues are extremely long requiring one to scroll down to get to items at t...

Re: Just bought the game; What were Your first impressions?

So I might be a bit late for a first impression review, but I'll tell you anyway. I tested out the demo like 5 years ago and thought I'd come back to it when it had more development. I was bored and still waiting on updates to other games and I saw a review online of Factorio and vaguely remembering...
