I was about to file an 'is this a bug?' then found this thread. For rail blueprints the game is happy to have an absolute reference point at any of the four positions in a 2x2 rail tile (choose e.g. grid sizes of 6x6, 6x8, 8x6, 8x8) so I suspect there's already some sneaky plus-one fixes going on to...
