Re: Friday Facts #167 - Reactors Operational
Albert.... Wow. Stunning! I'm all for larger boilers, for it will reduce number of inserters required for line of boilers. I'm very, very, very disappointed on 3x2... why not 2x2 or 3x3? Then, again, introducing high-temperature steam, and extracting energy from it using steam turbines, then last bi...

Re: [0.13.14] Crash: "(1172): d3d_unlock_region"
I'm not joking - Why would anyone use 7zip, where there exist thousands of other compression software? 7zip is full of bugs (for example it doesn't see some files in zips packed on linux - and you can't tell), it's awfully slow, doesn't support multithreading, and it's compression is not even worth ...

Because it's compressed with RAR5. I'm steering clear of 7zip, sorry.

Re: [0.13.14] Crash: "(1172): d3d_unlock_region"
I just clashed with Windows update - it seems that Microsoft knows better than me what drivers I need, and was downgrading my GPU driver. I filled the bug report with driver 358.xx. Now, I've manually upgraded to 368.81, but crash happened again: 0.002 2016-08-06 21:55:29; Factorio 0.13.15 (build 23...

Re: [0.13] Add Loader into game (officially)
As per 13.14 overflow doesn't block loaders and they can be set on chunk boundaries.

[0.13.14] Crash: "(1172): d3d_unlock_region"
What : segfault, crash (program stopped responding) When : Recurring, random. I think it happens more often within a minute of alt-tabbing into the game, but it may be my imagination. It may be that it started happening around 0.13.13 Suspected culprit : no idea. Machine specs : Windows 8.1 x64, 32...

Re: [0.13.13] - Not enough video memory?
Issue persists, and I kinda narrowed it down. 1) I do have newest video drivers for my video card. 2) setting video memory to highest setting have little effect, setting generally quickens or delays the issue, when set to low or not. 3) I see corellation with windows lockscreen usage - if I lock my ...

Simple arthimetric operations in logistic requests boxes
TL;DR: allow three basic arithmetic operations: +/-/* in logistic request box. whenever you have to request something, be it chests or your own logistic slots, sometimes I want precisely given amount of resources in this particular spot. I can quickly calculate in my head 20 x 16, but for example 1...

@Kayomani - Guessing you have the one with 3 fans - is your card loud under heavy load?
I got hefty discount in this card and consider it buying for my sister to play Space Engineers, which goes heavily BDSM on GPU.

Re: [0.13.11] - Not enough video memory?
After few hours of testing it seems setting video memory to high solved the problem. Bit of background - I thought that video memory usage settings tells Factorio to limit its use of memory and dynamically load/unload graphics assets, and level of this setting controls aggressiveness of this behavio...

[0.13.13] - Not enough video memory?
I'm getting not enough video memory error. Video memory usage is set to low. It happens occasionally when games runs 15+ minutes minimized and I click it to bring it back to front. Screen is black and error message pops out. I play in a window. Edit: autosaves from that time, when the game was minim...

Re: Post your PC-Specs!
Octacore desktop PC makes little sense. Hardly anything makes use of more of 4-6 threads (gamewise Crysis 3 can eat up to 16 cores, maybe likes of Supreme Commander would utilise similar chips). In fact higher core number means lower power budget per core, so lower performance in single-threaded wor...

[0.13.6] Game doesn't restart when toggling mod and browsing
Game version: 0.13.6
Current behavior: If you toggle mod, and then enter 'install mods' menu, then leave, game will forget about changed mod state and won't restart.
Expected behavior: Game should remember changed mod state and auto restart when leaving mod menu.
Reproducible: always

Re: [0.12.29] Crash when playing over remote desktop
This may be caused by the fact that remote desktop uses another desktop session, than local. When you log out of RDP it kills the desktop session. Factorio may not like this behaviour.

Re: [0.12.20] Warehouses
I personally still prefer smaller 3x3 warehouses, since they mesh beautifully with assemblers and other entities, while allowing space for power poles. However I usually make some changes: I make the basic warehouse require more steel and some iron plates, then smart one requiring basic warehouse an...
