Currently there's no way to check how far along a belt piece any given item is, which would be useful for determining if an item is at the end of that belt. To use what you suggest would require a lobby of some sort so other players can connect to the host before the game is re-loaded. It could just start paused, since that's already in the game. Anyone who joins before it's unpaused would then send some data about their copy (world tick counter, size ...

Save scumming isn't a reasonable excuse to not add options for single-player respawn options. I've had instances where I wanted to see just how powerful various methods of attack are (tried machine gun with steel armour, then also used AP, then used a tank), and went out with the intention to reload...
