Re: Friday Facts #376 - Research and Technology

I also wonder how the dependency technologies work with this trigger system : what happens if I try to mine uranium before researching concrete ? I assume there will be prerequisite research/triggers before others activate. Really not much different than the current system of prerequisites in resea...

Re: Friday Facts #376 - Research and Technology

Very nice Wube. The introduction of research triggers is a cool way to implement learning newer technologies. Research queue always on is also good.... I haven't seen a single person on MP who prefers the latter. As for individual item productivity, for the sake of balance I'm assuming the research ...

Re: Friday Facts #375 - Quality

I have no issue with this but there should not be so many qualities in vannila because its getting overcomplicated very fast. 3 qualities is more than enough to complicate this very much. I can't disagree with you on the complexity part lol. Not sure if you're part of the Discord server, but since ...

Re: Friday Facts #375 - Quality

I think that 5 qualities is too much and makes lots of unessesarly issues. 3 Qualities would be much more better and would make more sence and make game more clear. I you have to do this feature at all cost then do only 3 quality types and it could be like: Q1 = Low quality Q2 = Standard quality Q3...

Re: Friday Facts #375 - Quality

Just chill out and see what else is revealed over the next year. And at that point, feel free to have whatever opinions/feedback/grievance you wish. Are you suggesting waiting for it to be finalized before pointing out unintended consequences and possibilities to address them before time runs out o...

Re: Friday Facts #375 - Quality

OMG stop saying that its optional because its not. If you want to build decent endgame factories then you have to use it or you will get huge disadvantage. So no optional! My man, horizontal scaling and all of the other modules/beacon setups still exist. The FFF from a couple days ago says th...

Re: Friday Facts #375 - Quality

One tiny minority of players doesn't invalidate the rather large amount of criticism this "feature" is receiving from a far broader range of players. There are probably more members of that "small minority" in this thread alone than voted in that poll. I help small businesses ma...

Re: Friday Facts #375 - Quality

For an added sense of perspective to the devs, this new mechanic received unanimous approval on a poll a couple days ago on the Discord server. Not 80%, not 90%, 100%. Don't get me wrong I think it could use a few small tweaks based on my earlier posts (naming of the tiers, and added mechanics to re...

Re: Friday Facts #375 - Quality

I'm aware about the other features but I like the core game as well, in the end it doesn't really matter whether i'll own the expansion or not, and factorio is not the only factory builder game. If it's really optional then they can just add a toggle during the map creation and balance the game in ...

Re: Friday Facts #375 - Quality

I propose these names to be used instead of the current, as they are all centered around mechanical/engineering/manufacturing:

1) Standard
2) Refined
3) Fine-Tuned
4) Precision
5) Masterpiece

https://i.imgur.com/wkJyRTg.png Splitter 1 puts all "Epic" items to the right and sends them to splitter 2 which has the filter set to "Epic". How do items get into Assembly Machine 3 ? (They get in because they are in box 4) The filter splitter in #1 is likely set to ">= E...

Re: Friday Facts #375 - Quality

It's a shame they wasted development time for such a "feature" but if it's really optional then all is good. You have like 50 more FFFs before you should make that call. I expect this is foundational to a lot of the new stuff going into the expansion. Do you choose between a slower space ...

The "logistic request" on the roboport for robots is a godsend, will it work for repair packs too?
+1 for this. I get there are buffer chests and the value of strategically placing them, but repair backs go hand in hand with bots. After all, roboports natively hold them.

Re: Friday Facts #374 - Smarter robots

Very cool FFF. Even if there is slightly more overhead, I could imagine there being less overall bots needed at any given time to perform the tasks in a larger base, which would still be a net positive?

Yet here you are, apparently not having forgot.

I think you'll get a pretty biased answer here :D . Try the demo and watch some Youtube videos to get a feel for it and go from there.

Re: Friday Facts #373 - Factorio: Space Age

You can't make an omelette without breaking an egg. Considering what there is to be gained from this (game engine upgrades, plenty of new content/stuff, plenty of cool mods to follow, etc), is it really a big deal if a few BPs are obsolete or older vanilla content is rebalanced to fit the new contex...

Re: Friday Facts #373 - Factorio: Space Age

I'm a little concerned that it looks like a dumbed down version of space exploration. Will it be compatible with the space ex mod, for those of us who want a harder/longer playthrough? Or will you be continuing the space ex mod to keep it compatible with space age? This is what I came to say as wel...

Highlight icon on logistics GUI when hovering over item in "Set request"

tl;dr (I'll do my best to keep this succinct): If an item is already active in the logistics GUI, when hovering over said item in "set request" (the items highlighted red showing they already exist), the same item should be highlighted in logistics. what tl;dr says it all. why As for why,...
