Re: Solar panels less of a no-brainer

Korda your use-care is an argument for a third kind of power generation, not a reason to leave solar as is.

Re: Friday Facts #129 - The late game

Cargo Trains DONT EXPAND THE CARGO TRAIN SIZE. The cargo train is currently incredibly overpowered for its cost, research-tree level and balancing purposes against other solutions. It has "smart" functionality (lockable slots, filters) despite no electronic components. It is so useful the...

Re: Accumulators are too cheap

I would balance accumulators AND solar panels as follows: Accumulators would move much later in the tech tree (late tier 3 or early tier 4) - its a tech that doesnt even work reliably in real life - and become more expensive. In addition there would be a 50% efficiency loss when using the accumulato...

Re: Tanks need a counter in PvP

None of the combat stuff is balanced against biters let alone against other players. Combat PvP isnt intended to be a thing YET

Re: Gun turrets working without eletricity

Could make two versions - one needing coal the other electricity? It annoys me too that something so powerful can be built entirely unsupported (bullets are cheap and a stack of 100 lasts a very, very long time - a furnace will got through 10 stacks of coal before a gun turret goes through 1 of bull...

Re: Why are electric furnaces so expensive?

As someone who actually works in the renewable energy industry in the UK - the biggest drawback isnt "ugliness" or even cost, its intermittancy and lack of storage solutions. Going 100% or even 50% renewables is not a realistic goal even if we had the generating hardware for free - all it ...

Re: Solar panels less of a no-brainer

I would balance solar by introducing procedurally generated random weather, making accumulators more expensive and come much later in the research tree than solar power, and allow logic (e.g. smart inserter control) to be triggered by time of day / daylight status. Accumulators should also degrade o...

"Eras" of Factorio

Most people's play of Factorio, especially as a noob, can be categorised in a number of different phases. In the earliest and shortest phase, the earlygame manual period, the player is largely limited to manually fed, coal powered drills and furnaces with wooden chests. Some players spend a lot of t...

Re: Friday Facts #128 - Back down to earth

The belt loader/unloader is too powerful alone. Some suggestions for balancing: - Make it 3x3 (its too compact at present) and require at least 6x inserters of the relevant tier (as well as some higher tier components) as input. - Make it require "fuel" of some sort - suggest coal for the ...
