Re: Large poles should automatically connect Red&Green wires
Wouldn't you just disconnect it though? Just like when auto-connecting copper wire bypasses your switch?

Re: I think assembling machines need some balance changes
I'm a bit confused by some of the responses comparing AMs to handcrafting. Is anyone seriously saying that handcrafting is better than AMs, and that they have avoided automating because AMs are too slow compared to handcrafting? To state the obvious, AMs allow parallelisation, both of the same step ...

Re: I think assembling machines need some balance changes
If you really want it, I'm a noob modder and I could have it done in under 15 minutes (with hardcoded numbers and no gui). You can then change the numbers as much as you want with notepad.pichutarius wrote: βSun Jan 31, 2021 11:12 pmEasy to mod or not is also subjective, just like math teacher saying math is easy.

Re: Defence economy balance
Reading this thread has been interesting. One thing I think that has been overlooked with gun turrets vs lasers regarding outposts, is resilience. Laser turrets at an outpost are vulnerable to biters chewing on your poles, meaning you need to either: * Set up redundant electricity connections * Prod...

Re: Large poles should automatically connect Red&Green wires
Maybe I'm playing the game differently to you, but the vast majority of the times I have connected a circuit wire to a large pole (as opposed to a medium, small pole, or substation, which would be actual hell), it's cause I want that signal to be available on 99% of my other large poles. For the 1% ...

Re: Personal energy source needed between solar panels and fusion reactor
Keep in mind you need to adjust for the day/night cycle Depends on your usage, but valid point of course. So the solar panels come out at 21 kW / tile and the fusion reactor at ~47 kW. That gap is still not huge , but yes you can squeeze a useful intermediate power source in the 30-40 kW range. Don...

Re: Large poles should automatically connect Red&Green wires
There's a lot of overlap with FARL, but FARL is not a proper superset of this suggestion. And the breaking of the circuit network when you rebuild is one thing this suggestion would address. I'm on the fence about whether wireless circuit mods are "cheating", but given that the use case fo...

Re: Large poles should automatically connect Red&Green wires
I'm necroing I know, but this still shows up in a google search. https://mods.factorio.com/mod/LD_AutoCircuit does a lot of what is requested here, for those who are happy with a mod solution. Combined with https://mods.factorio.com/mod/WireShortcuts, you get a connected-by-default but easily discon...

Re: Inconsistent information on boiler efficiency
Assuming I'm reading it right, https://github.com/wube/factorio-data/b ... .lua#L1878 conclusively says 100% efficiency. Also the fact that the 50% pages haven't been updated for a few years should have been a giveaway.

Inconsistent information on boiler efficiency
I'm reading the wiki and there seems to be two different answers about boiler efficiency (or my comprehension skills are lacking). https://wiki.factorio.com/Boiler implies 100% efficiency https://wiki.factorio.com/Power_production explicitly states 100% efficiency https://wiki.factorio.com/Energy_an...
