Re: [1.1.101] Performance regression causing severe stuttering
I have to say I also noticed some strange performance issues on one of my older machines, in the same initial demo level. I never tried the older version of the game on it but since the same system can run Crysis I figured it should be able to run that first empty demo level without stuttering. For ...

Re: Friday Facts #379 - Abstract rewiring
Thinking more about it, I really don't like the idea of moving things from the game world to the HUD. It gave items a actual purpose rather than just being a ingredient for recipes. It also makes the interface more cluttered. Abstraction takes away from the immersion. The game is about having fun in...

Re: Friday Facts #379 - Abstract rewiring
Great job with the wiring system and the shadows, it is an improvement for sure. Not a huge fan of adding more UI elements to the game tho, I actually liked how many craftable items in the game actually had use cases for them on right click instead of just being an ingredient.

Re: Friday Facts #378 - Trains on another level
This is absolutely cool stuff, I love those complex crossings in the example screenshots. Unfortunately though I do have to be honest and make a few remarks about things that I would rather see different, hereby understanding the enourmous amount of work you put into this already. First, I don't lik...

Re: Ammo rebalance
I like your ammo piercing suggestion, think we simply need an extra mechanic to give the better ammo really an edge over the cheap stuff other than just raw damage per second. Ultimately even the cheap ammo will become extremely powerful even against high armor targets, that is due to the inifinite ...

Re: Friday Facts #376 - Research and Technology
Reading all the critique in those threads I really hope the devs stick to their OWN vision and not cater to 'player feedback' because that is how so many potentially good games got ruined. Have faith in yourself, you know the best. You make what YOU want to make, wether we like it or not. Forgive m...

Re: Friday Facts #376 - Research and Technology
Grade 1 Grade 2 Grade 3 Grade 4 Grade 5 - many proposals has been lack of clarity where exactly some terms like "improved" and "enhanced" would fall. Should be self evident. - It's all function. hit the bulls eye Disagree, immersion plays a role for me, also in Factorio. ...

Re: Tech Tree Visibility
Agree, but after a technology has been researched one time, it will be visible from the start on later playthroughs. This can be saved in the same way unlocked tips & tricks are stored I think. As the devs said in the latest FFF, they normally want the entire tech tree visisble from the start, f...

Re: Friday Facts #376 - Research and Technology
Great news. I always thought that the beginning of the game was a bit overwhelming (for new players) with so many recipes available from the start. And the electronics research never did anything except unlocking other research. Also, burner tech kinda feels redundant because of how quickly you can ...

Re: [1.1.74] Factorio uses Efficiency Cores instead of Performace Cores
One thing tho that makes me kinda wonder if the game is indeed only using the small cores, how come it loads so much slower on my M1 Macbook than on my Steam Deck or Linux laptop (with same ingame settings). Especially the 'Loading sprites' part, I would kinda expect the M1 to load faster because it...

Re: [1.1.72] Steam Deck low resolution in docked Gaming Mode
I had the same problem, you gotta go to the steam deck settings, select the proper native resolution for the external display. Then in the Factorio settings (not in game but like the game's properties) you need to set resolution to Native. If I remember all of this correctly. Try it, and let me know...

Re: Friday Facts #371 - Apple Silicon
Was waiting for this for a while, kinda knew it was coming. So about 30% performance increase, nice but to be very honest I expected more. Since the game is extremely CPU dependent, especially with bigger maps, running the game through Rosetta 2 x86 emulator I would expect to have a rather extreme p...

Re: Remove Expensive Mode
Have you guys never played Marathon or something?
Just FYI, Marathon game mode uses expensive mode recipes and it's not a simple multiplier. The way the devs carefully handpicked the amount of ingredients for every recipe is pretty brilliant IMO.
No way this should ever be removed.

Hehe, I remember running into this one myself. Good times it was, when everything was new. Finding out stuff is the best feeling. But I can help you a bit, I call this a **SPOILER** tho. A mining drills output works like a inserter, it can put things into other entities like belts or furnaces, or ev...

Are you playing a map that stresses your system to the point where the game is slowing down?

Re: Simple Questions and Short Answers
Hmmm after loading the save file suddenly the pollution absorb spiked immensely and many attacks went out in a short amount of time. While when I was playing earlier nothing happened for 30 minutes. Maybe something just got bugged that fixed itself by restarting the game. Well I am glad it now works...
