Re: Cybersyn active provider station

I don't know what the "cybersyn" mod is, but it's easy to do in Vanilla. Set the train station pickup limit to zero or 1, depending on the value from a chest. It will take exactly one wire. Run wire from chest to train stop. If chest contents > x, set train stop limit to 1. If chest conten...

SE - Energy Beaming

I'm playing through Space Exploration for the first time. It's awesome. I just unlocked Energy Beaming, and my entire life has changed. No more tedious hours spent pushing borders out. No more time building vast solar and battery arrays. I don't mind nuclear power at all, but even that's unnecessary...

Re: Is a train junction parallel multiplexer possible?

It seems that you're describing a roundabout. You can make them as large as you'd like, and multiple trains can use it at the same time if you have the correct signals, with no collisions.

Re: Building queue rearrange

If you're talking about your personal build queue, then I'd suggest that you're making the game more difficult and annoying than it should be. If you have that much stuff that you're crafting by hand, consider automating making those things!

Re: factario keep crashing every few seconds

It sounds to me like bad RAM to me, from my experience. Bad RAM will give you random errors all over the place like this. Luckily, it's easy to test and easy to replace. Hopefully, that's what it is. Trying to diagnose a bad motherboard is a lot tougher.

Woke up... thinking about Factorio?

This morning, I work up suddenly, sat up, and gasped with the thought, "I need to process bereyllium into plates on the planet before returning it in a rocket!" (I'm playing SE).

My wife said, "Factorio?".

Has this happened to you?

Re: [1.1.97] Crash on launch from Steam - Pop!_OS Linux

Just curious.... why would you run the game through Steam when you can just download it? It seems like you're adding in extra complexity unnecessarily. Have you tried just the game, itself, without the Steam wrapper thing?

Re: Maximum throughput of a rail line

It's going to take some calculus to figure this out. That's a pretty big ask for most people.

[edit]

I didn't think that there'd be people around these parts who'd be able to/want to figure this out, but then I saw this post....

Re: help with train stops

You definitely have to learn train signalling to get this to work. The simple way that I learned to do signaling was: chain in, signal out. Meaning, you put a signal where two tracks come together to a single track, and you put chain signals in along the two feeder tracks leading up to the merge. Th...

Re: How can people play without infinite resource mod?

I agree. If you go past a single rocket launch or so, then you have three factors going for you that other people already mentioned: 1. greatly increased mining productivity, 2. ore patches get really huge as you move away from your starting point, and 3. blueprinting mines makes it simple. Heck, if...

Re: HDR

I think that's a very reasonable generalization. I can't imagine playing the game without blueprints post-rocket launch. It seems like it would just be incredibly tedious and boring to plop down a building at a time. That's just me, of course, but I would imagine that most people are not playing Fa...

> but you have to spend ludicrous amounts of time I have a blueprint with 4 artillery fed from a requester chest surrounded by laser turrets. I slap a few of them around the edges of my base and they handle everything. I don't even build a wall for default settings anymore, I just clear the polluti...

Re: HDR

The thing is that Factorio isn't about good quality graphics to most players. My intuition is that megabasing to the point UPS are the major limiting factor the the enjoyment concerns a small percentage of Factorio's players. Excluding this (probably) small population, it's hard to imagine people w...

Re: HDR

The thing is that Factorio isn't about good quality graphics to most players. Most of the game is spent plopping down blueprints in map mode where there are virtually no graphics at all, just color blocks. This is a horrible sweeping generalisation. You're free to play with your coloured blocks, bu...

Re: My issue with Factorio and how the 2.0 Space Age expansion is going to fix it (i hope)

get to the lategame and can use artillery to keep biters from ever getting close to your base. I disagree, even in late-game biters are not "solveable". Artillery is too weak, even if you reach absurdly high range upgrades. And what happens then, is even funnier, you get artillery with en...

You probably have a limit in your inventory, and it's being moved into your character's trash, and carried off by bots when you have more than 100 steel.

Sharing items in a chest is almost always a bad idea. Just change your setup so there's only one item per chest.

Re: SE: Nuclear power after launch?

Oh wow! If Kovarex requires something from other planets, then that changes everything. Looks like solar is really the only route to go unless you happen to have *tons* of oil or coal. Interesting.

Thanks for the info!
