Re: Rocket silo doesn't always produce white science
I think the silo is the only entity in the game that accepts objects that aren't necessary for launch. As a result I'm not that careful in pumping it full of what I think it needs. In this case I was wrong. I got mixed up with rocket part ingredients which needs a radar. So I probably unknowingly se...

This works nice with my train world games, but its not a song. 10 hours of steel wheels. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TUp754Ug6c8&t=24005s&ab_channel=DmitrySysoev Parts of it have interesting russian loudspeaker background which is kind of like whats in the game. https://youtu.be/TUp754Ug...

Re: Rocket silo doesn't always produce white science
I think I figured it out. Testing now. At some point I thought the silo needed radar to launch so I set up a belt full of radar to be inserted into the silo. Is it possible the radar was being inserted where the satellite belonged? The rocket would take the radar to space but it wouldn't register a ...

Re: Rocket silo doesn't always produce white science
I tried to locate a save on my windows 10. They've made it very hard. I don't think I'm going to find it. Seems like in previous versions of the game I could see the satellite place in the silo just before launch even though it was automated. Also, this is not a case of the rocket launching before a...

Rocket silo doesn't always produce white science
I've got tons of satellites, but often I get no white science from a rocket launch in version 1.1.38 Build 58907. 64 My satellites are in a chest and fed into silo with a fast inserter. It works sometimes. I get the white science but other times, more often, I get nothing. The silo just starts absor...

Re: What am I doing wrong?
Summon a locomotive with at least one fluid wagon to the station. Change the train's setting to manual if you want it to stay there forever, but be sure you don't move the train at all. Place the pump in position when the train is at the station and it will tell you right there if you're in the righ...

Re: Isnt Factorio for Casual Players? Help with some tips
It was a big day for me when I realized how important it was to keep my belts pure. If you have stuff showing up on your belts on the left side and then the right side sometimes that always ends in trouble. You're going to need a lot of gray belts, yellow inserters and green circuits. If you hit you...

Re: The virus has caused a factorio type of problem
Nah, the Chinese are smart. They know how to control the outbreak, but they also know how to prevent the outbreak or at least most of these outbreaks. This isn't the only one. SARS was also caused by this bushmeat problem and so was Ebola. They don't like to admit their mistakes just like Donald and...

Re: The virus has caused a factorio type of problem
If it wasn't for the internet, education, doctors and more enlightened policies this could have been the swine flu again with more than 65 million dead worldwide. In 1918 doctors had little say in how the military should behave. They put people in barracks while they trained for WW1. It was cold and...

The virus has caused a factorio type of problem
I think this is the most frightening plague I've lived to see. Its not too bad in the USA at this point. Almost 450 cases in the USA at this point, but it could get worse. So far I've quit restaurants. I hesitate to go out and do anything. The situation in China is nuts. Apparantly their heavy hande...

Re: Biters eat pollution?
Its too bad I can't research some colorful wall that the biters can't eat. Build a pen and fill it with biter eggs and let them absorb pollution in deforested, heavily polluted areas.

Biters eat pollution?
Do biters actually eliminate pollution? I knew trees and earth did. I shut down as much coal powered stuff as I could when I built nuclear but have only had a modest pull back of pollution. I used a blueprint to create a factory, but now my factory has blue triangle icons in the center of each assem...

Re: Battle is frustrating
I've automated poison capsules and I'm getting better at the battle. My 4 personal lasers are tearing them up without me even having to aim and I've got 4 exoskeletons so I can get out of most situations. I think I might be moving faster than with the tank. Is there no way to use flame turrets effec...

Re: Battle is frustrating
I think the problem is that I never automated the various capsules and my inventory is usually over stuffed. I'll have to give your ideas a try. I did try nukes a few months ago with the rocket launcher. It worked nice but when it gets hectic it is very easy to kill yourself. I noticed that biters n...

Re: Battle is frustrating
Thanks to the replies in this thread I tried making 3 exoskeletons, 2 portable fusion reactors, laser defense and lots of poison capsules and I've been running right into the nest complexes and decimating the worm clusters. Its actually fun and new to me. Got me out of a rut so thanks to all but esp...

Re: Battle is frustrating
I haven't done any purple or yellow science yet so I've got the less spacious armor. Room for only 2 exoskeletons and my roboport doesn't work. Apparantly doesn't have enough power with just batteries. It needs the personal fusion reactor that I haven't researched yet. The artillery is weird. It doe...

Battle is frustrating
I've been fighting biters with my tank and laser turrets. I'm not thinking that this is brilliant fighting so far. The range on the cannon is so short and you don't get a green disc of range like you get with the grenades so you don't even know if you're going to hit your biter nest when you fire. T...

New at creating a scenario
I ran into some problems when I tried to use the factorio editor on version 16. I placed a bunch of oil resources and pump jacks. I also placed a nuclear plant and steam boilers nearby. The pump jacks pumped, but nothing came out of the oil resources. I'd also filled a chest with crude oil barrels b...

Created a scenario with some oil resources
I was using the editor to create a scenario. I laid down a bunch of oil resources but when I went to play the scenario no oil was being pumped. The jacks were moving up and down, but they did not extract any oil at all. For the longest time I thought they just weren't getting electricity and they we...
