Re: Friday Facts #169 - Combat revisit 2
I feel guilty of not having posted my "combat revamp" mod that I made over a year ago publicly. I always wanted to share it as feedback of how I think combat in factorio could be really improved to be so much more fun, but never got around to posting it here, partially because I felt that ...

Re: How to add entries to existing prototype?
Thanks a lot for the replies, looks like table.insert was what I was looking for. :-) PS. Yep, I know about data.raw. Oh and I don't think your post is long, it's pretty concise and informative. =) Now that I know about table.insert, I have another question. Is there a way to edit elements of an arr...

How to add entries to existing prototype?
Hello all, I'm trying to figure out how to add some stuff to an existing prototype. For instance, taking a technology like: { type = "technology", name = "military-2", icon = "__base__/graphics/technology/military.png", effects = { { type = "unlock-recipe", re...

Re: Long distance transport
The way I see it; - I need to waste hours trying to set up a rail network, placing all those rails (diagonal rails are a massive pain to place, the slightest water puddle in the way requires you to fiddle with curved rails trying to move around it, an even more frustrating experience). - Then I need...

Re: Long distance transport
I'd definitely recommend you stay away from trains and just use belts. Trains just aren't worth the hassle; they take way too much time to set up, require fuel to operate (more infrastructure to set up), can be attacked and destroyed by biters, and are just as expensive if not more expensive than tr...

Re: Tech Tree nonsense
I think some of the research being useless without other research is fine. For instance, you research railways first, and then you are able to start working on building your rail network while you research engines. I agree that the tech tree definitely needs some better organization though. But I'm ...

Adding an equipment window (like modular armor) to a car?
Hey all, I just started working on my first factorio mod. Hopefully it's going to be a modular car. However, I wasn't able to quite figure out if it is even possible to set up an equipment window for the car. I guess I'd have to somehow listen to a right-click event and pop up the UI manually. Or is...

Re: The Car
I think it would be awesome to have a modular car, that you can put upgrades into; First, the basic upgrades: + Acceleration +Top speed +Turn speed + Reverse speed + Brake speed + Health / Armor (bundle these into upgrades that give bonuses in two or more areas) And then some advanced upgrades: Alte...

Re: Looking for laptop with reasonable keyboard
Yeah the average temperature during summer is 35 degrees (95 fahrenheit) here. But the overheating problems start much earlier. But let's not derail the topic any further. We're here to help kovarex find the dream laptop that has the insert/delete/home/end keys in the right location. :P Perhaps a la...

Re: Looking for laptop with reasonable keyboard
I actually like the weight and size, it makes it feel less like a piece of breakable glass and more a piece of hardware. Internals get messed up? What are you doing using your laptop as a frisbee? Laptops don't have internal damage as time goes on; unless you are mistreating them or not cleaning th...

Re: Looking for laptop with reasonable keyboard
I used to think the same thing till one of my friends got an Asus G-Series. These things are beast I can play Rome 2 at high everything on my laptop and the thing never over-heats, not that I want to play that shitty game. I actually have to switch to my laptop to play many games. The only downside...

Re: Looking for laptop with reasonable keyboard
As a fellow coder (and game developer) who is used to coding on a proper keyboard, I can relate to your problem. :) I do have a laptop, and I find that my productivity drops heavily when I have to work on the laptop keyboard - the insert/delete/home/end key locations are the biggest problem. I prett...
