In reference to the youtube videos you linked: In Factorio the belts move a lot faster, so the effect would be a lot more noticeable. I'd recommend updating to latest one. The game is updated but started awhile agoo and the belt was palceed in 0.12.30 ...

I decided to dig in a bit deeper and it sounds as if maybe we are both right a little. Ill explain. What I am referring to as compression is really about speed loss for the outer turn of an item on belt. Bad terminology maybe on my part but my point stands. *EDIT* See my next posts for clarification between the .11 and .12 belts and what I'm suggesting. At that time, every time you had a belt, you had to make the turns be the upper tier of belts to keep compression - and throughput. THIS is the current mechanic. Nice stuff there. I've been thinking of adding Bot Mining. It seems low volume really and could be single networks at each ore location or tied to the primary network. I like to do that anywhere by chaining bot stations anyway. I have mixed emotions about copper cable though. I feel like its so much...
