Re: More range on the speaker
That's why I'm asking for jumping straight from middle to middle in specific situations with the cyclic sounds. Violin can go straight from sustain to sustain in some situations, so playing the attack for the second note can make it sound wrong. You'd get the same wrong sound trying to make a guita...

Re: More range on the speaker
hehe hehehe he yes i get it hehe heehe Thank you for your attention:) I have attempted to use the violins from the mod linked earlier, and found it difficult, more than using percussion , in that i think it sound much more familiar to hear percussion played as series of notes spaced apart from each ...

Re: More range on the speaker
I share your reasonning that it would be preferable "in general" to have a full grand piano range so as to possibly play "every song" on at least the piano. I don't know if there are possibilities with sounds that would be "pure sin wave", those don't necessarily need t...

Re: High-Throughput Exact-Items Train Loader (w/o Bots)
It's a proof of concept how to make it so that you can use multiple filtering inserters adding all different things into a train but never overfill and grab the same things at the same time, which leads to overfill. I was not sure if i had missed a flaw or not because the design is complex, to me i...

Re: High-Throughput Exact-Items Train Loader (w/o Bots)
Hopefully this makes a little more sense... It does make sense, but it's doesn't make it more intuitive for me x) There is an example for your loader. You mention you want multiple wagons for your trains in the end. But your current solution doesn't scale to multiple wagons. I don't mean the size a...

Re: Beautiful Sushi Belts
Just because the research is stopped doesn't mean the belt is 😄 Yes it is: This is no proof ! When the research stop, the belt doesn't have to stop either. You stopped the belt, which broke the setup but the claim i understood as : you can take or stop taking science from the belt ( like inserter w...

Re: More range on the speaker
I don't know in term of priorities. I suppose 2 & 3 are competing for "more memory", in such case, it may be preferable to add an instrument with a lower range of notes rather than having more notes on another sometimes ? I notice some of the instrument typically do not have the full r...

Re: High-Throughput Exact-Items Train Loader (w/o Bots)
Bitwise operations are often easier in programming for dealing with power-of-2 numbers. In this case 1<<30 is the same as 2^30, and is exactly 1/4th the range of the 32-bit integer (the full range is exactly 2^32). The particular bits being set here don't actually matter, addition or subtraction wo...

Re: Friday Facts #406 - Space Age Music
But all that said, while I say there is an optimum shape to operate your platform at, I never said it may not be worth diverging from that optimum, despite incurring inefficiencies. If I did that then I would likely add more speed because wasting time waiting for a platform to travel from one plane...

Re: Robots generating endlessly new "music"
That is a lot of combinators lol. Makes my brain melt! I tried to limit the amount to make "robots" but it's more difficult to use less and try to compress. I had to let go a bit in order to achieve a machine that could play arpeggios, tremolos, chorus, and random sequence, which i think ...

Re: Friday Facts #406 - Space Age Music
From a hypothetical point of view the most efficient shape for the platform would be a circle (which would be annoying to build). So for simplicity I'd say go for an octagon or square shape. The reason here is because it will have the least area for the size of the platform; which is the main facto...

Re: Friday Facts #406 - Space Age Music
I like the idea of the music being there to help the player focus, and differents atmosphere on different planets and space. That seem so natural when presented, but it had to be done. It may help alleviate the repetitiveness, when the music is too distinctive, it feels like a playlist repeating, it...

Re: High-Throughput Exact-Items Train Loader (w/o Bots)
Thoughts? 1) That has to be one of the most convoluted way to solve this problem i've ever seen 2) i think for long videos of explanations like those, people sometimes make several cuts and/or bullet points on a list to look at to avoid skipping something or saying another thing twice. 3) It's cool...

Re: Robots generating endlessly new "music"
I would say by default the closest note. Like B3 to C4 since C4 is closer to B3 than C3. But would still apply octave shift chance on each note, shift from default. I think i solved this problem by changing the way the memory cell work. Instead of storing 4 random notes independant from each others...

Re: Robots generating endlessly new "music"
Wow that is quite a contraption! Thank you, some time was spent to make it look cooler than it really is x). The robotification process allow to hide in the mess the fact that each part of the "brain" is not super optimal in terms of combinators. The second one is similar to the first one...

Re: What if Lubricant was needed for the big mining drill?
I think it might add an extra logistics challenge to the better mining, granted without having played the expansion this is all just theory. but wanted to get others' thoughts on it. I like idea but maybe it is "restrictive" as adding complexity, maybe it could improve the drill if you br...
