Re: rocket science stack size
A stack size of 2000 makes it cumbersome to control wether or not to launch the first few rockets automatically because there's *so much* white science in my trains (and i do have it limited to one stack per train) that it takes forever to actually fill the trains so they stop taking white science ...

Headless command to save game should not disable achievement
TL;DR When using the "/c game.server_save()" console command as suggested in this thread , do not disable achievements. What ? I understand that using console commands to do things like spawn items should disable achievements because, in the general case, the game cannot know if the playe...

Re: Cover ore with bricks/concrete
If you can cover up ore, you cannot see where it is if you want to harvest it.
If you do not want to harvest it, why not use the Ore Eraser mod?

Re: More Pumpjack access points
I always thought pumpjacks were a little quirky because of that, but not defective. Do you have any examples of an oil field where you are unable to harvest all of the oil patches because of how the pumpjack rotates? As it is, this complaint sounds a bit childish - you really can only "sample a...

Re: Friday Facts #205 - Teaching the things that everybody knows
I would split the military production tab. One tab would contain items you equip: weapons, ammunition, armor, items that go in armor. The other tab would contain items constructed on the ground, e.g. turrets. Then it becomes easier to make the distinction and inform the user: "items in this tab...

Re: Late game bug lag
Plenty of people develop multithreaded applications. Factorio is even multithreaded, it just runs the game updates on a single thread since it is not a task that lends itself to parallelization.

Re: stray trains
This is why double-headed trains with terminus-style train stops are ideal. There is literally no way for a train to path through a train stop that way. The only trains that end up there, belong there.

Re: Unofficial Factorio Troll/Griefer Database (FTGD) - Last update: 5/21/2017
Is it possible to snapshot the game state periodically? That, especially in combination with a filesystem that supports snapshots, would do a lot to mitigate the stupid harm these people can cause. You could snapshot every 5 minutes or so, and roll back to any previous state you please. There is a ...

Multiplayer lag
A friend and I have been playing a multiplayer map together for a while, and want to push this to megabase size, although it is not there yet. It is in that nebulous territory between "we have a main bus" and "we measure rocket launches in tens or hundreds per minute." The save g...

Re: 3D vs 2D which is better for Factorio?
Factorio looks great in 2D, and the developers are not going to change that. Just because we have GPUs that can render amazing 3D scenes does not mean every game needs 3D. We still have sidescroller games in the modern era of 3D graphics, why not appreciate the game for what it is? Personally I thin...

Re: Steam-only questions
I recently bought Factorio on Steam, and was able to link my Factorio and Steam accounts. Based on earlier comments it looks like this was not possible previously, but the integration is in place now.
After linking my accounts I am now able to download non-Steam versions of Factorio.
