Re: Version 0.17.60

I prefer to avoid logibots too, as I don't really like how they change logistics to be about recharging (etc.) rather than layout... Heck, I'd rather use logicarts instead ! Logisitic Carts are a lot of fun! I use them a lot before even Bob's logistics come online. And still, I use these things to ...

Re: Version 0.17.60

Flamethrowers don't consume much oil though. There is far, far more oil in the tanks and pipes than the flamethrowers fire because the pipes will fill instantly. Unless you are playing on a Deathworld Marathon map that has the difficulty turned up even more beyond what Deathworld defaults to. My Fl...

Re: Version 0.17.60

This is one of the best games ever made. I would put it in the top five of all time, easily, maybe top three. But I can't help feeling that it just got slightly smaller. I can't help but feel like binning this game in with World of Warcraft. The game was engaging, difficult, required time, thought,...

Re: Version 0.17.60

There is another nice puzzle to solve now. It may be not so obvious at the first glance. You will find out that there is just not enough heavy and light oil available now, without the old basic oil processing. It will require setting up coal liquefaction which was not useful previously, unless you ...

Re: Version 0.17.60

I'll just mention that the only real use for light oil was making efficient solid fuel previously. How much of it did you really spend for flamethrower? That is indeed true, but now that solid fuel isn't even used in Chemical Science, it makes both light oil and solid fuel near useless until you bu...

Actually, because I play with AAI mods, the Flametanks use this ammunition, so I make TONS of it. *Another reason to stick with modded games and a...

Re: Version 0.17.60

At least it makes my megabase builds easier since Advanced Processing is nearly useless now so I just need a tiny build for it and then can spam production of Basic Processing for all my petro needs and less fluid boxes. Having the basic tech be superior to higher tech for late game big bases names...

Re: Friday Facts #305 - The Oil Changes

Which leaves me with a big question actually... what is even the point in having heavy oil AND light oil? both are useful for exactly one thing each, and both become available at the same time. Why not just combine them into a single refined oil? I thought about this a little more. If they go to on...

Re: Friday Facts #305 - The Oil Changes

Ok, I'll join the chorus: I don't like the oil changes. I get that it should be simpler, but these changes make no thematic/chemical sense. So after going through the comments, I suggest: Basic Oil Processing outputs heavy oil and petro gas. This makes sense thematically as it is what the most basi...

Re: Friday Facts #305 - The Oil Changes

now that you've explained it all, and made changes, it does make a lot more sense. I'm still going to have to undo a few of these things in my mods though, like I said last week, I make use of light and heavy oil in many things, and just making them unavailable until after SP3 would break the flow ...

Re: Friday Facts #304 - Small bugs; Big changes

I posted earlier in this thread that I like BOP as is, and gave the reasons why. Petroleum Gas goes for Plastic and eventually making Advanced Circuits, Light Oil goes for Solid Fuel, and Heavy Oil goes for Lubricant and eventually into Electric Engine to lead to Construction Bots. It is not balance...

Re: Friday Facts #304 - Small bugs; Big changes

However sadly this still does push back construction bots due to those indirectly requiring red chips. Maybe this could also be modded a bit to grant most satisfying experience. Ahem, Construction Bots require Green Circuit Chips not Red Circuit Chips. Don't you need a roboport to make them work ? ...

Re: Friday Facts #304 - Small bugs; Big changes

This thread sure has grown a lot in a day. I would propose to separate these two by both simplifying blue science - I had to stop reading there. Science is the main means of progression and undermining that aspect only makes everything else easier as a result. Part of the appeal for blue science be...

Re: Friday Facts #304 - Small bugs; Big changes

My two cents on the proposed changes: (1) Oil change - I do not support this. As with the recipe for Chemical Science, you actually had a use for all products of the basic oil refining: Petroleum Gas for Plastic and also for Sulfuric Acid, the Light Oil to make Solid Fuel for Chemical Science, and t...

Re: [0.17.x] Bob's Mods: General Discussion

Added a new oil overhaul(on another option) that doesn't add the extra oil processing recipes, instead it replaces petroleum gas on other oil processing recipes with sour gas. This can be split into petroleum gas to make plastic and hydrogen sulfide to make sulfur and sulfuric acid. sour gas can al...
