there are problems with chain signals that are planned to be fixed in 0.15.* (can't find the post ATM)
i've just been using normal signals and networking them to act as chain signals. a lot less frustrating.
also you can get more info about what's going on with trains using the debugger (F4)

i have nothing against EU players, it's just packets jumping across oceans affects game play.
my server (if i can get it running) will say it's for US east coast/mid west players.

a message to players "you have been kicked for high ping" would be good.

'admin only' console for headless server? (win7)

i'm following this guide on running a headless server, and playing on the same machine.
that guide is for 0.13.15, and i'm running 0.14.7
what do i add to the server.bat file so the console commands are only available to admins?

i hear ya about being annoying. ok, give the player the option to hide the messages then. or limit the number of times it's sent to players.
even just a single welcome message would be nice to have.

i think it would be helpful if we could add messages to the server chat from the server itself.
such as "join voice chat room using [client name] at [Chat IP address:port]" every 3600 ticks etc.
have the ability to have multiple messages with a pause between.

is there a way to filter players with high latency when hosting a server?
starting a Co-Op group, and want to keep it fairly local. (east coast/mid west US)

if you're the server owner, enable 'Verify User Identity:' when creating a server. this forces users to use their Factorio login name. if an admin bans them, they can't rename/rejoin. voteban would get abused IMO. imagine joining a server, and getting vote-banned for no reason. if a server has activ...

i was going to start a thread on the subject. i think it would be great.
like being able to prevent new players from using personal weapons, ghost spamming, or switching science every 10 seconds.
have it so the server owner can change privileges to each group, to their liking.

didn't know about the unbrush fuction. i have a map i wanted all concrete.
brushing the concrete on left the trees from map generation.
brushing them with water to remove the trees, then painting land (optional), then concrete worked.
