Re: Friday Facts #164 - Nuclear power
Politically speaking, I think a nuclear reactor exploding when it overheats sends an overdone, lazy, and above all, misleading, message about the way nuclear power works "innocent" mistakes , repeated like this pervasively in the media, are one of the main reasons why people are so irrati...

Re: Friday Facts #164 - Nuclear power
I like the idea - not a huge explosion, but something more "long term". Also I think about "meltdown" - it should damage things in nearest vinicity, like fires or stuff like this, if you really "over-exploit" (forgot the proper word ) your plant(complex).

Re: Friday Facts #164 - Nuclear power
yes, but is the heated core mobile? I think that FFF's point for having such cores is to be able to transport heat with them via logistics system or as cargo.

Re: Friday Facts #164 - Nuclear power
Hmm, seems I'm late for the praise party (doubt seems to start creeping in). But aww hell, here I go :) First, I'm very excited about water/steam handling changes, even tho it would mean complete factory rework (at least things will get a lot more logical in where the first "stone" was lai...

Re: Friday Facts #162 - Theme Art Again
Wait what? Biter fueled trains? You, I like you :) We'd only need something akin Necron Spyders for harvesting and processing purposes :) There is that legend that mummies in the Egyption desert used to get exposed after wind-storms, and that the railway folk used to collect them and use the mummie...

Still would be nice - if possible and not much effort draining. Factorio Christmass present, perhaps?

Re: Friday Facts #163 - New rails & New problems
Good stuff. If you are allready working un Rails, could you also add tunnels or bridges? It would be very nice to see as an addition to have multilayer trains. This. So much this - Imagine railroads over the pipeworks :) EDIT: Tho it may pose another problems - like elevated train stops and signals...

Re: Friday Facts #162 - Theme Art Again
In late game, why not invert the biters reaction to player - make them run away. This way player has to fight biters for territory in early-mid game, but by late game they'll just get out of the way to avoid being further decimated by player. It's like the evolution factor would be a curve - at fro...

Re: Friday Facts #162 - Theme Art Again
I rather keep turtling inside my factory, with several areas (sections) defended by turrets, walls, and railways (yup  ), and IF I go out, it's mostly to design another station for my factory (I don't even build anymore, I have drones for that) transit or another industrial sector (as I got...

Re: Friday Facts #162 - Theme Art Again
Holy -- I know you've heard that many times, but that pic is amazing. Give my best regards to Marco :) I only miss a swarm of drones from previous (or rather current) logo, maybe a rail or two. And I think it should be darker (the industrial pollution filter and such :) ) Still, it's only my thought...

Re: Friday Facts #161 - Infinite Research and Blueprint Library
To be honest, I am not sure if I am interested in having resource sinks, I produce stuff in order to increase the size of my factory, and then to better defend myself and to reach/transport more resources to mantain the factory and meet the production goal. Same here. That's a perfectly valid plays...

Re: Friday Facts #160 - Playtesting
I think a cool addition to the game is to be able to place combat robots into either the Roboport or some type of robot defense structure where they will be deployed when an enemy comes into range. It would be very cool to be able to setup patrols or other RTS type stuff with combat robots. Combat ...

Re: Friday Facts #160 - Playtesting
I have been struggling with that myself, so I modify factorio/data/core/graphics/pollution-visualization.png to make it easier to see. I am lazy and just replace the border pixels with black. Hey, if it's stupid, but working, it's not stupid at all. And this is actually ingenious in its simplicity :)

Re: Friday Facts #160 - Playtesting
The tutorials are a MUST . I, for one spent a good hour before getting my trains working. Either way, keep up the good work, loving the game - re-ignited my interest with the in-game mod portal. Yes, interactive tutorials are love, life and pure goodness. However they are kinda redundant if you alr...

Re: Friday Facts #160 - Playtesting
I actually don't want the people to explore much. It just makes the map huge and this game is not about exploration, it is about building a Factory. Well, sure. But those are connected. You can't build a huge factory on a small plot of land. Also, what when you finally exploit starting resource sit...

Re: Friday Facts #160 - Playtesting
I'll start with the very beginning. I too made a new playthrough (or continued a previous one anyway)... 1) ...and I'm not really happy with rail planner tool (or current rail creation process). I do appreciate the notion, but still, I'd rather be able to craft and place curved rails myself too, esp...

Re: Friday Facts #159 - Research revolution
What I fear though is that they won't give PvP enough attention and leave it half-assed like the rest of the combat in the game. EDIT: Honestly, if you don't know what do to with it contract a game designer with RTS experience. It can't stay as it is, it needs an overhaul. Personally I'm of the opi...

Re: Friday Facts #159 - Research revolution
I'm very much against that. (...) TL;DR we already have an energy source depending on the 'sun's energy, why add another when there are so many alternatives available? Note: don't take this as a personal insult as I've also thought about such ideas in the past (and made posts like this), but I've s...
