Re: Version 0.17.60
means 456 players in Apri 2019 got the rocket achievement when approximately 1000 new players per month tried the game. So approximately 45,6% of new players have reached the rocket achievement. Not sure about that one. This could means many older player got to launch their first rocket unmodded, a...

Re: Version 0.17.60
Sorry but that is were you are wrong. The advanced players even if they enabled mods at some point for whatever reason during their progression never drop out of the total statistics. ... That said what you can do though and what BlueTemplar wrote about and what I think he meant is the change from ...

Re: Version 0.17.60
What you are saying is to make note of this percentage, wait a month, then look at the new stat? This is still comparing to all history. No. Wube surely gets absolute number of players at any time (developers have access to a lot more statistics, details and exact numbers, not a simple rounded perc...

Re: Friday Facts #305 - The Oil Changes
It's EA fore a reason. While I get this, I'm also still a bit conflicted. I paid into EA to support this game because I liked what I saw and the direction it was going at that time. In 0.17, there have been shifts away from that. If it shifts far enough away, can I withdraw my support? Buy only rel...

Re: Version 0.17.60
Many players I know keep pointing to Steam achievements as the metric to show how hard oil is, and I believe you all have mentioned it once or twice. What occurred to me, though, is this: the people who have probably given the game a try and then quit are very likely not to retry after an update, o...

Re: Version 0.17.60
The problem is now more about the measurement of success. At the moment we all have just opinions about what the change will accomplish. Facts will be available only after some time and a statistically relevant number of new users had a chance to play it. But will Wube remember to check the numbers...

Re: Version 0.17.60
The point of the post I was replying to is that we shouldn't panic because this is still the experimental branch and subject to further change. My point is that the people who could give the desired feedback for the change wouldn't see it until it became stable and most likely not subject to furthe...

Re: Version 0.17.60
Except the target audience for this change isn't even playing on the experimental branch , they're playing on the stable branch. The people whose feedback is needed for this won't get this until it's been declared stable and extremely unlikely to change again. So please explain into which version t...

That accusation surprised me too. Maybe morsk should post one or two examples to show what he means.BlueTemplar wrote: ↑Sat Jul 27, 2019 10:29 amI was already thinking that I should dial down my posting, and so I will, but... my posts insulting someone ?!?

Re: Friday Facts #305 - The Oil Changes
I'm ok with the oil changes now. "Roadblocks" have been addressed and there is even more reason for needing AOP now. The FFF didn't address any of the GUI suggestions, so Wube seems to think the GUI is not part of the problem. ... Please do note the GUI update is not yet finished. ;) Exce...

Re: Friday Facts #304 - Small bugs; Big changes
Some people in this thread posted some GUI improvement ideas (for example this list at the end of https://forums.factorio.com/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=73443&start=340#p443944 ), a friend of mine had another one: * The hover window has a status line that is very inconspicuous with all the other i...

Re: Friday Facts #304 - Small bugs; Big changes
Did you even read what I wrote? I was talking about the problems with forcing people to use mods, none of which have anything to do with backwards compatibility or expecting the game to be static, and you rambled back at me about the meaning of the term "Early Access". And your random acc...

Re: Friday Facts #304 - Small bugs; Big changes
Wube are not pampering their players. 7 days to die and other similar early-access games are exploiting them. And you're so used to this exploitation that good development practices and treating the players well feels like pampering. Oh really? Then what can a developer do if he really wants to dev...

Re: Friday Facts #304 - Small bugs; Big changes
Actually, I'm pretty sure we're more investors. Not really. An investor usually has shares, he owns part of the game or at least gets a share from the profits. You don't. You payed for the game and you payed for also getting early access to the game. You are a player. The only rights you have by la...

Re: Friday Facts #304 - Small bugs; Big changes
I am not the original poster, but here is my issue with "forcing" people to use mods that substantially change the gameplay: [four reasons...] ... but as stated some pages back, that confidence is cracked . You are treating an Early-Access game as a service game. This is not a service gam...

Re: Friday Facts #304 - Small bugs; Big changes
Never said I was, but please, do keep mansplaining to me what I already know and said. So descriptions like "this joke nerf pitched at the lowest common denominator" (obviously showing your contempt) is just a message that this nerf is of no concern to you? Why post it at all then? Why pu...

Re: Friday Facts #304 - Small bugs; Big changes
I don't bother playing games that aren't complex and interesting enough to not have to crack open a friggin' webpage occasionally, like that's some massive burden. If I'd had access to today's technology when I was a kid, it wouldn't have been any different then. I'm also far past the stage where l...

Re: Friday Facts #304 - Small bugs; Big changes
I am quite surprised how many times I have read "the problem of multiple output refining is just delayed" in a bad meaning. The fact that it's split (delayed) is a huge benefit - first time around you learn how basic pumpjack/fluid transport/refinery/chemplant works, and second time aroun...

Re: Friday Facts #304 - Small bugs; Big changes
I'm not sure if it was communicated correctly. Advanced oil processing is going to be used not only because the need of lubricant in later stages (not so much later if you want robots), but mainly because of it being vastly more efficient. Without productivity modules it is 100% more efficient, wit...
