Re: Friday Facts #383 - Super force building
My two cents on a couple of things: I agree with those who say cliff destruction should be moved to Super Force Building. I usually want to keep cliffs. I don't agree that automatic landfilling should also fill gaps between entities. There are already ways to do that, whether including concrete or b...

Will this make it easier to make an S-R latch?
Every time I make one, I have to look up how to do it again.

Re: Friday Facts #382 - Logistic groups
What happens to blueprints and blueprint books? Do I need to request them too, to avoid them getting trashed by trash-unrequested? Normally, blueprints are supposted to be in the blueprint library. At this moment, blueprints are trashed as well, but we are planning to change it as it is quite annoy...

Re: Not zoom to cursor
You're talking about hundreds of dollars worth of man hours to implement and test something that most people find inferior or don't care about one way or the other. Your cost estimate might be right or wrong, but the existence of this thread shows that your opinion of what "most people" c...

Re: Not zoom to cursor
Another good example of where this would be useful: I have a speaker notifying me (by icon only) if I don't have enough reserve ammo. The icon starts flashing. I can click on it to center the map on where the lack of ammo is. But if I try to zoom in to see the exact details, it zooms to the mouse, n...

Re: Friday Facts #381 - Space Platforms
I love it! Except for one thing that seems a little weird: Building purely by ghost. I can understand why the platform shouldn't have logistic bots, but why couldn't it have construction bots? It feels like a break in realism...OK, OK, I already know what you're thinking. :D But normally building is...

Re: Changed Username and killed my Lazy Bastard run.
Do you have old saves, or do you always save over the previous save?
If the latter, do you have a backup program running, or something like Windows Shadow Copy which might have a copy of an older save?

Re: Not zoom to cursor
Can you explain to me why you insist on knowing better then me how i use keyboard and mouse to control my pc? I'm not. I'm talking about how everyone expects you to. Perhaps you should go back and read the very first post again. Currently the map zooms to the position of the cursor. This is awful a...

Re: Not zoom to cursor
Thats not what im talking about either. I want the view to always zoom to the center of the screen, not the position of the mouse. The only situation I can think of where this would be correct behaviour is if you're playing without a mouse. Are you a pure gamepad user? With a bit of thought, you ca...

Re: Give train stations weighted priority based on time since last train
You could potentially solve it with circuits, yeah... You should. It's not that difficult. You don't need to circuit-wire all your stations together or anything. Just use an arithmetic combinator to divide your current ore or oil count at the station by the total amount each train can hold (e.g. fo...

Re: Friday Facts #375 - Quality
Is there support/potential for underground belts/pipe reach-distance to be improved by quality, or has it already been firmly-decided to keep these entities' quality improvement solely health-based? (sorry if this has already been answered.) The post said this: There are a few entities which don't ...

Re: The big question: Are you going to try v2?
Given the embarrassingly low price ($20) I paid for Factorio originally... Given the sheer quality (as a software developer, working in a shop that fixes every bug the way Wube does is my dream)... Given the staggering number of hours I've put into the game... Given the mod-friendliness that keeps ...

All these name suggestions assume that the first level is the basic, default level. But I say, why be satisfied with that? Strive for highest quality! Anything else is just too mediocre.

Re: Friday Facts #375 - Quality
I don't really like this. I generally don't like quality in the first place because it's weird and non obvious. In a way it's kind of like assembling machine 1 then 2 then 3 etc, but more obscure. We already have tiered machines, so this seems weird and inelegant. I don't like the randomness of get...

Sorry to ask, but why are you still here ? Were you expecting the whole community and dev team to fall on their knees and implore you to stay a bit longer ? Re: What does it take to launch a rocket in 6 hours?
At this scale the factory takes 6h to produce all the required science packs and material for the rocket. That would leave 2h to build the factory. No, it still leaves 8 hours to build the factory. It's not as if you do 2 hours of initial building and then stand still while waiting for everything t...
