Re: Rebuild or Restart?
I was just wondering what the general consensus is on this: do you rather to rebuild your factory upon discovering a flaw, or instead to start again fresh? I have barely experienced mid-game factorio because I've always restarted upon finding any flaw with my factory. I felt that it was more work t...

Re: What are the most impractical items in Factorio?
And finally...lamps. I think it's purely a cosmetic touch, one that I like, so I use them. I like them, too, but I'm often too lazy to automate and place. Brings me to some silly ideas, that gives lamps an additional advantage: Lamps could slow down biters slightly... Or lamps increase defense of b...

Re: [Mod Idea] - Personal Auto Crafting mod
I should note that IR3 intentionally makes handcrafting painful to strongly encourage automation. In my personal experience of it, you should focus on automating intermediates so that you're only hand crafting buildings, then work on automating the buildings. I feel that this is a very deliberate d...

Re: New 'fish' breeds can not be landfilled
I don't know the answer, but I know, that Angels mods also adds new fish, which works to be landfilled
Maybe check those to find a hint
Not sure, which mod it is exactly, I think Angels bioprocessing.

Re: [QoL] Add a "Quick stack" button to chest
Besides other features, I implemented a hotkey in this mod to quick stack to a chest:

Not a button, but a hotkey

Re: [Mod Idea] - Personal Auto Crafting mod
If you can work without GUI, I implemented something:
https://mods.factorio.com/mod/idle-crafter
Or something likes this, which has also other features:
https://mods.factorio.com/mod/HandyHands
https://mods.factorio.com/mod/HandyHandsRefactored
The second claims to be the same but better UPS

Re: [Mod Idea] - Turrets should more accurate if it has radar coverage
As user of such a mod, I would not be able to inspect, why it's working slowly, because the moment I see it, I have radar coverage. At least, if you count the player's radar, too And I don't know, if such a mod would make much sense. I would just encourage the user to add radars. When they are added...

Re: Save window geometry upon exit / Remember window positions / Store window size/location between games
This is a bug that needs to be fixed, period. Calling it a suggestion is obvious nonsense. Windows exposes a window manager API for exactly this reason and failing to use it is not a lifestyle choice, it's a mistake. If there is a place where users can tell Factorio how large they would like the Fa...

Check, if the hotkey is still pressed?
I wonder, if it's possible to check, if a hotkey is still pressed after the initial event. I'm currently try to implement some kind of support of dragging the mouse over entities and do something, while the hotkey is still pressed. My current approach is to save, that the hotkey event has happened a...

Re: QoL idea: Automatically create ghosts on building destruction, even before robotics
I could imagine, that an argument is also, that it's not obvious to new players, what those "weird transparent things" are. So, it should at least be an option, which is default "off" to don't confuse new players. New player experience is kinda important for such complex games. O...

Re: Can't understand hate for handcrafting and love for early malls
Another question is, do we need a fully fletched mall before logi-network? If you build the mall correctly it will last all game. Of course it will, but the effort to build a botted mall is a lot less. But then again, I'm playing seablock and a belted mall for all tiers and things is quite a task, ...

Re: Can't understand hate for handcrafting and love for early malls
Also note that the early mall will be crafting belts, underground belts, splitter, inserters, furnaces, electric mining drills all in parallel and ahead of time.... Ah, I thought, you wanted to follow up, that the precrafted item buffer is major resource sink and can compete with progressing somewh...

Re: Can't understand hate for handcrafting and love for early malls
Note: you are ignoring crafting speeds so your values are a bit off. Grey assembler have a speed of 0.5, blue assembler a speed of 0.75 and hand crafting a speed of 1. I don't think so. He/She says, that a fast inserter is produced in 1 sec. in a grey assembler. That's correct, because crafting tim...
Re: ChatGPT
I don't trust a machine, which makes it's own conclusions and interpretations. ChatGPT is not designed to make it's own conclusions. I just... arranges words which match better its trained network, as Koub said. Though, it does it very well. Ask ChatGPT, what was its training dataset :) By the way,...

Usually, you can contact the mod dev via the mod portal or the contact option. Maybe also via github or something. If you can't contact the mod dev, you can treat it as a "No". In case of doubt, don't use graphical content of others, if the license forbids. You can use factory base game as...

Ok, I should have said, you need a CPU with high single core performance Second time repeat: CPU frequency in Factorio is not an issue I don't understand, what you are trying to say. you need a CPU with high single core performance No, I do not need it. And sorry, I did not read about your experien...
Re: ChatGPT
The point is, that you can't fully trust and that makes it's dangerous. It's a bit like someone does the googling work for you, but misinterprets things differently. I would say the opposite: in general, it is more dangerous if non-specialist does the googling by himself. Most people just read few ...
