Re: ChatGPT
I would say, instead of "don't expect truth", i would say, expect failures and mistakes. Many things are correct, but not everything... I would say, expect mostly the truth, just don't trust 100%. I think ChatGPT is way better than just " many things are correct". Its answers ar...
Re: ChatGPT
TLDR : don't expect truth from ChatGPT and its siblings, just expect things that sound right. Thins includes subjects like Factorio. That's not true. Regarding the facts or opinions, it gives very good answers. I would say, instead of "don't expect truth", i would say, expect failures and...

Ok, I should have said, you need a CPU with high single core performance Second time repeat: CPU frequency in Factorio is not an issue I don't understand, what you are trying to say. My statement is, that you need a CPU with high single core performance and a high memory bandwidth. That is, what I ...

Re: Best CPU available: AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D?
I am very happy to hear that in order to play comfortably in a game that was released in 2016, after 7 years, you need a threadripper. A Threadripper is not the way to go. Probably not, probably yes, want to see the real test. You need a CPU with high single core performance. I do not think so, pro...

Re: Best CPU available: AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D?
When the system is under full load, the AMDs seems to be a more energy efficient than Intel, at least according to those tests: I had a german source, which is this: https://www.computerbase.de/2023-02/amd-ryzen-9-7950x3d-test/3/ But this (english) is another under "Power Consumption" http...

Without detracting from the merits of the Ryzen 9 7950X3D, I suggest looking at the results of processors in heavy maps: https://factoriobox.1au.us/results/cpus?map=af7eda7ffc9a34b083ba82bfefb4178c791c8d04ce3e5b3cc6dd999605e8d509 Who has 100 UPS?? But, the Intel processors draw a lot more power com...

So, instead of not belting it away from the main bus, you use bots to bring it back to the main bus.
Sounds funny.

Re: Does fluid/electricity flickering affect ups?
The chest trick seems nice, if you haven't researched "circuit network" / "combinators".
You just have to have a blueprint and wires are build just fine.
And I like it visually.

And for AM4 folks, the 58003XD is still worth considering, although it's a bit slower than those new 5nm models

Re: [1.1.76][mac-arm] β (Cmd) + W closes the game without saving
I figured, that an application can't do anything to change those macOS system-hotkeys, unless I missing something. An application can easily intercept hotkeys on MacOS, for example browsers like firefox or chromium rebind it to "close tab". I don't use CtrlQ or CtrlW as hotkey. It's more ...

I figured, that an application can't do anything to change those macOS system-hotkeys, unless I missing something. You could also change WASD control to somewhere else, factorio has an incredible flexibility, when it comes to key rebinds. Coming from windows/linux, I changed Cmd to Ctrl key on my ex...

Re: Can't understand hate for handcrafting and love for early malls
The mall is mostly so that construction robots don't have to bother me when building blueprints on the other side of the map. I think, that's one of the most important points. A mall helps to create materials for bots to place. Without it, you have to handcraft everything and place it in a logi-che...

Re: Can't understand hate for handcrafting and love for early malls
At first: It's your decision, do what you think is best. Since it's an automation game, people like to automate things. That's the nature and the appeal of this game. Generally handcrafting is fine. Handcrafting gets problematic, if can't get enough products in time for your plans. Personally, gears...

I have that, too, but I thought, I screwed something up with my Gnome.
But maybe, it's something different.
I switched back to XFCE on X11, because it running ok-ish still.

Re: The Most Obvious Imbalance I've Ever Seen After 4K Hours
If you want nightvision, you have to use 2x2. That's how it is currently and there's no alternatives besides mods.
That's said, 1x1 would IMO be better and paired with belt immunity, if would take 1x2, which is a lot more practical for those side feature equipment.
