Also, how are you going to split off resources when the belts are that tightly compressed? Doubling up is one thing, but that steel line is going to mess things up when you need to split off copper.

I think that's normal behaviour. It's just where a bit of "heat pressure" was missing in the "heat pipe" while flowing. You get that in fluid lines too... some segments show slightly lower pressure at times. Doesn't seem to affect endpoint performance or throughput. I got a sneak...

Wait, 2 engines per boiler? Boiler consumes 1.8MW, but is 50% efficient, so should produce 900KW in steam. Which is exactly one steam engine. If water consumption is also 50% efficient, a boiler eats 60/sec in water (steam engines eat 30/sec). Pump produces 1200, so you could do 50 boilers per pump ...

I think Combinators are only evaluated once their inputs change. Might be a good idea to reevaluate on changing their settings too.

You can use the "Set filter" option on the Filter inserter. Simply use a Decider Combinator to check the chest content, if the right amount is in the chest, stop outputting the filter for that item (otherwise output that item at the Combinator's exit with value 1). Once there's 10 of each ...

this would be nice, but a way to fix this is put a filter inserter on the belt line to grab the bad resource off the belt At early game you don't have that (yet), and the starting area is usually where this problem occurs.
