Raycasting engine in factorio

I've made a raycasting engine inside factorio. I call it FactoRayO v1.0 It allows you to play simple 3D games inside factorio. https://youtu.be/7lVAFcDX4eM No explaination of how it works here (might put one later), because a lot of information is already in the video. ------------------------------...

youtube field of forum profile is invalid

In the profiles on this forum it is possible to add a link to your youtube channel. However it always links to a youtube.com/user/ page instead of a youtube.com/channel/ page. So it doesn't actually link to the correct page.

Looking for Credo Time Lapse Mod for 0.17

Credo Time Lapse Mod currently only supports up to factorio version 0.16. Can someone who knows more about modding fix it for 0.17? It's more than just changing the versionnumber (I tried that already). Something about gui styles that no longer exist in 0.17. And the original has 4418 downloads, so ...

Re: Friday Facts #283 - Prepare to Launch

As you can see, there are a lot of things happening at the last moment, but it seems that there shouldn't be a big obstacle in the way of release next week. What about the 65 unassigned bug reports? I'm sure they're VERY thankful that you mentioned bug reports. I suspect they're so unfamiliar with ...

Re: Friday Facts #283 - Prepare to Launch

this line scares me The Rocket Silo without the rocket uses sixteen 8192x8192px textures which makes our 1080Ti run out of VRAM to render. i have only 4GB 1050Ti anyways, looking forward for next week release. btw. i don't like opening animation on logistic boxes, but ... guess that's just matter o...

I took a look at the save and there's really not much that can be done.

You've simply built a bat-s*** crazy amount of electric poles and rendering them takes a ton of time :P
What amount would be a bat-shit crazy amount?

I don't think it's very smart to use your email as your username. Don't you get a lot of spam due to this?

Re: Friday Facts #276 - Belt item spacing & Script rendering

There is a visual requirement that belts only move integer number of pixels every tick, so that is 1/2/3 pixels for transport belt, fast belt, express belt respectively. Why? Aren't those pixel distances only valid for a zoom of 1.0 ? I assume it's more likely that a player is on a different zoom l...

what about fluid wagons? How do pumps know in advance what kind of liquid trains will have when they stop?
I expect the pumps won't connect if there's a mismatch.
does this mean we can still create mixed fluid systems by using trains as intermediates?

Re: Friday Facts #273 - Cutscene controller & Localisation plan

Suggestion regarding the cut scenes: If planning to zoom in, pan first, then zoom once on-scene If planning to zoom out, zoom out first, then pan to the scene I think this should make it smoother, but the only way to know is test and when panning very far, zoom out first, even if you need to zoom i...

I have a GTX-660 with 2GB and 32GB of system RAM.
Does that mean I have only 2GB of VRAM, and therefore belong to the bottom 25% of players?

Re: Friday Facts #264 - Texture streaming

If for some reason, VRAM use ever becomes an issue, you could give players the option to only use any 2nd, 3rd or 4th frame of each animation, so that only animation FPS suffers instead of having the entire scene FPS drop. That way, animations would lag but player movement would still be butter smo...
