Are any of you using the same Steam account and/or a shared library?

Re: Do not pause game when looking at research in single player
There is a keybind for pausing, you don't need to open the menu screen. However, it's not much better, as you still can't open and interact with anything. The most you can do is open/close the map view and scroll in and out. Everything else is locked out. :( I do still feel it'd be best if they cha...

Re: Fluid Mechanics Still Broken, 6 Years Later?
The standard pipe length between pumps is typically 17 sections, giving 1,200 units per second. According to who ? why 17 ? seem to me quite the arbitrary number. That is the actual measured flow rate in game according to the wiki: https://wiki.factorio.com/Fluid_system#Pipelines But everything thi...

Re: [1.1.107] Blueprint library cloud sync gets deleted on fresh factorio install
So if you just started a game for testing purposes to see if Factorio works on a new install and abort it a minute later, the local blueprint library has been just created fresh and empty. It has the timestamp from just now. This is newer than the cloud stored file, and will overwrite the cloud blu...

Re: Friday Facts #408 - Statistics improvements, Linux adventures
Talking about non-blocking save, the only problem i ever had was on heavily modded games, with big saves (SE-K2) that my PC ran out of both RAM and Swap. (Firefox stealing like 10GB did not help) As a result my games crashed more often on save than at any other point, which is pretty much the worst...

Re: Super force build should be the default.
I'm against this. If while laying blueprints I accidentally misclick, I don't want it deconstructing a section of my base on me to make room for that blueprint.Seanyjolhv wrote: ↑Sat Apr 27, 2024 12:30 amTLDR

Re: Fluid Mechanics Still Broken, 6 Years Later?
I will start with an example direct from one of the FFF posts. [removed image for post size] Here, we observe a Gear Foundry efficiently filling two green belts with stacked gears. The blog shares the Foundry's details: "plus 2,500% craft speed and 4.33 craft per tick." Two fluid inputs a...

Re: Friday Facts #408 - Statistics improvements, Linux adventures
When did you implement fork() for save? I suggested it in 2016! https://forums.factorio.com/viewtopic.php?f=66&t=24242 According to this other thread, sometime with version 0.16.x, though it appears to have been an undocumented change, so unknown if it was 0.16.0 or a later iteration. https://f...

Re: Collections that can be shared
Hey, how cool would it be if we could create Collection of Mods that then can be downloaded all at once. Same as the Steam Workshop Collection Feature. With that people could create collection of specfic playthough, share them and people dont need to search hundreds of modname. I think you can alre...

Re: @raiguard RE: background saving
As far as I know, Factorio runs almost entirely in the memory, unlike most other games, which is why even slight issues with your ram are noticeable in Factorio while everything else seemingly runs just fine and you need so much more for this game as the factory grows. It seems you're mixing some t...

Re: Fluid Mechanics Still Broken, 6 Years Later?
I don't want to see instantaneous fluid transmission in this game. That just feels wrong and doesn't go with anything else in this game (with the exception of power transmission). I'm not sure if most of the players think the same. Would you say "you all play it wrong"? Well, I wasn't spe...

Re: @raiguard RE: background saving
I'll admit that I'm a bit puzzled by the claim that it takes twice as much memory though - most of that should be libraries, graphics, etc. that aren't going to be modified by EITHER process, and thus won't be duplicated no matter what either does. As far as I know, Factorio runs almost entirely in...

Re: Fluid Mechanics Still Broken, 6 Years Later?
But yea, as others wrote already... just make more fluid than is drained; then it will hardly be an issue. No, there's no such state in the game "I have enough of ...". If your factory expands, you always, always lack of some components. "Just produce more of" is a tem...

Wow, posting from a computer today, my phone made that picture huuuge . Sorry about that. :P Looking at your log file, I don't see that line anywhere in it. In fact, there's only one line with the word "Error" in it, and it had something to do with an invalid keybind. A lot of that log fil...

[...]i'm not sure if there was priority on splitter back then[...] There wasn't, but you were able to use a single circuit wire connected between the two output belts to create something similar. One belt would always be on, reading on hold, while the other will enable only when the signal exceeds ...

Re: Fluid Mechanics Still Broken, 6 Years Later?
Except you could not use cracking with the basic tech, so everyone was researching quickly the advanced oil processing, and setting up cracking otherwise you'd either have to mine the tanks. Or at some early stage of factorio developement you could void fluid in steam engines, not just steam, but a...
