Re: Nuclear component heat capacity
Good to see the numbers match up with what I found in my own tests - SCIENCE! there is one thing to be concerned with with using this for storage, in lightly loaded reactors, the core might bump 1000 C if the capacity is close to the amount generated with the new heatpipe calculations, but that goes...

Re: Constant reactor fuel usage/cycling (now a discussion)
I did some testing on this topic just the other day, looks like reactors hold about 5GJ of usable heat above 500C while heat pipes and exchangers each hold .5GJ in the same temperature rangeAeternus wrote: What -is- the energy capacitance of a heatpipe per tile?

Re: Nuclear power start before Kovarex math
there are a couple points for the math. 1. you get 10 cells per U235 - 80GJ total 2. each reactor can't burn for less than 200 seconds each cycle, but they do store an immense amount of heat internally 5GJ per reactor, .5GJ per heat pipe segment or heat exchanger, both of these values are usable hea...

Re: Loading nuclear reactors
My solution to this issue has been inserters that pull from chests that never have more than one rod each when steam or accumulators get low, then have them refill the chests with a single rod once the steam/accu gets back up, 2 deciders and an arithmetic to AND them for the reset. should be stable ...

Re: Shipping power! .15
It actually goes into the tanker as water at 165C, so it might work in barrels
edit: just tested and it seems the temperature is lost on barreling, probably due to being a new item instead of just being moved to a new container

Shipping power! .15
With the new fluid wagons, it is now possible to ship steam to your outposts for power, just needs a single solar panel to jumpstart the pump to make the connection.
