Re: Aren't construction bots available too late?

Solution 0 : Building by hand. Have you included "placing rails while driving a car/train" in "Solution 0" ? Good observation. If asked I would (general principle and feel is the same, and it's low tech as well). I think I did not considered it when I said 2 to 3 times slower. I...

Re: Manual logistics network routing

The issue with that kind of suggestion is that logistic bot network provide a very powerfull network system while remaining extremely simple to use and not to heavy on computation. As such, it has many flaws, but any attempt to fix some of them may make the system unappealling to use, heavy on compu...

Re: The Green Dilemma

Also why is every questionable tech there is in the game to polute and destroy, but not simple stuff that could counter the effects of polution? Solar panel is a green tech. Nuclear power is a green tech. Laser turret is a green tech. Mining productivity is a green tech. And you don't need tech to ...

Re: Run and place inconsistency between poles and undergrounds

+1 Mesuring the exact distance is not the only way to go about udergroundies. For starters, the issue only arises when the last belt placed is a tunnel entrance. If it is an entrance, you can also delete or rotate the last belt placed and rebuild/overight it. But yeah, it is an inconsistency, and an...

Re: Make difficulty based achievements

I don't think there should be any more achievements. IMO, achievement should not necessarilly be hard, they should provide the players with ideas of what to do next, if they need them. For a game like the Binding of Isaac, which is all about suffering, night impossible achievements are definitely a ...

Touch pad, early game, and forest world, and hand minind, I don't think I can imagine a worse combination  I'm actually the kind of guy who plays factorio on trains, even though mainly creative and puzzles, since I fortunately don't take train very often (so I can play normal game mode at home)...

Re: Include hidden tiles in blueprints

Yeah, that's a bit weird, I guess it has to do with landfill encoded as a path tile.

Your suggestion is definitely how blueprint should work. I don't know how hard and useful it would be to implement though, as there is an easy workaround : blueprint landfill, then pavement.

Re: Continuous work with tool like continuous fire with weapon

RMB acts very differently than space bar, it's more analoguous to C, or whatever key is the manual fire. There isn't any tool, in the base game at least, that have "power like weapon". And that's to be expected : Players usually want to kill any ennemy in a nearby area, hence the spacebar ...

Re: [Poll] Battery design that stabilizes 0.16.51

Oh really? Almost every game that has some sort of batteries in it uses the very same design the Factorio developers had to change for mysterious reasons. How the hell was it out of place? Come on! The image you show are litteraly 1.5V toy batteries! Like litteraly powering a toy or smaller than a ...

Though I do have to lol at this, "The correct way to use them is to abuse the game's mechanics" xD (I think we should be able to slowly -15mins to 1h- reload modular batteries from the main grid, but that's for another topic) [...] +1 excellent points. I'm midly irritated by people thinki...

Re: [Poll] Battery design that stabilizes 0.16.51

For me, it was very weird to build 5.0 MJ accumulators in the desert with a bunch of self built yet branded non rechargeable AA batteries, so the old icon was a big turn off. The new model being slightly less simplistic, I can remotely imagine it's something aking to a car battery or bigger, with wi...

Re: Aren't construction bots available too late?

Okay, that's interesting. I haven't paid much attention to speedrunning since AntiElitz sub-2hr one in 0.14. Science revamp is what made the game long enough for bots to be useful in speedruns, so no wonder you have not seen them in 0.14. Initial cost being high is not really an issue, and the usab...

Re: Include hidden tiles in blueprints

Not quite. Mods add different types of landfill. The Landfill painting mod adds landfill for all the terrain tiles of vanilla. So you can add a nice sand border around your rails and a grass border around your roads and other visual effects. You might also produce more of one type of landfill than ...

Re: Send items from one belt onto 3 belts, sequentially

Why not just one blue belt as input, one blue and one yellow splitters, three yellow belts as output? So, 40 items/sec input, 3x13.3(3) items/sec as output. What you describe is an imperfect balancer. They work when the input is backed up, or when you want a priority splitter and design accordingly...
