There's no crash in that log, did you restart the game before you uploaded the log? Because that would reset the logfile.

If the mod author can and does include an uninstall option for you, that's great and you should use it. Why not use the "Creative Mod" or the editor with "Editor Extensions"?
I don't think there's anything you can't already do, the editor is super powerful and mods make it even better.

A bit late to the party, but Klonan's Expanded Color Lamps approach is pretty simple and could easily be adapted for 1.1.

I do like the uninstall JSON idea, just a simple migration entity -> array[entity], where the first one that exists is used.

Or a driver/kernel issue. Point is, factorio can't possibly lock up the entire system. I agree with Loewchen though, it does sound like a hardware issue.

Is this the log from a crash? Because there is no crash in there. keep in mind that the log gets re-created if you start the game again after a crash.

How did you find out this is the issue? I think I had a similar case where it would be super slow until *something* finished, and I'm curious as to what happened.

Is it always the same mod giving the issue? Try downloading not all mods at once, but only a few at once. If there's a specific mod that fails, try downloading it manually from the modportal with your browser.
