Re: Friday Facts #259 - Scan-codes, Prototype IDs, HR worm
Ho fast will worms dig tunnels and how long can they stay underground? Its important because if to fast and to long underground they may pop up in the middle of your base way past the defense line. You might want to hold this question until the feature goes from "intend to implement" to &...

Re: Artillery too powerful even for late game?
If you make artillery inaccurate, most of us will probably just doutriple the amount of guns. Can´t be bothered, just a logistic problem.

Re: Performance optimization - post your saves
If the game slows the more you zoom out I´d say the GPU is the bottleneck. Even though it claims to have only 40% load . Maybe it is the memory interface (no dedicated memory, as far as I can tell from the specs), maybe thermal throtteling.

Re: Friday Facts #245 - Campaign concept
But either way you´d end up with - say 12 yellow needed to complete. Whether you use the other colours up right away or when the missing ones show up doesn´t really change anything. It might simplify supplying bottles to the labs (by having dedicated labs for each colour), but even with all seven co...

Re: Friday Facts #248 - Not Saturday Facts
A 3D Factorio that would not push graphics too much (think Starcraft 2 quality?) should have reasonable performance... It doesn´t (push). My card doesn´t even turn on the fan and runs passively cooled. Still half of the Vram is filled... Which is good, I don´t expect the power supply to really cope...

3GB for high res? I run high res on a 2GB card and it does not lag or anything, nice steady 60/60 I have 2GB of video memory, and it crashes on startup if I select high res graphics. [...] That video memory is shared though, and I only have 4GB RAM - might explain the crash? My medium sized spaghet...

Re: How to evaluate pollution?
I think there was something about pollution and its spread in one old FFF. Or maybe it was the wiki? Can´t remember. In either case, you have to consider energy is "free" after setting up a stable nuclear reactor or going fully solar, as neither cause direct pollution like boilers. Which d...

Re: How to calculate the number of machines a belt can support?
Technically "yes", but putting wires on the belt halves your throughput compared to copper plates and creating the wires where needed ("direct inserting").

Re: Friday Facts #248 - Not Saturday Facts
bought myself a new RX570 with 8Gb just because of factorio - but I had only a 1G card before and was always jealous when I saw the high res screenshots. Anyway, should serve me well into 1.0 and maybe a few mods
