Lua Lint (Sytax Checker) for Notepad++ 64bit
Does anyone know where I can find a Lua Linter plugin for Notepad++ (NPP)? I found one online for 32bit NPP. I suppose I could use VSCode, but it takes longer to load. Also could use something that does a syntax check on the info.json file. Just missing a comma will give you a bad day. :ugeek: Edit:...

Re: When do YOU give up and start fresh?
I like to start over. Beginning is the most interesting part. I rarely launch rockets. Automation of Production and Utility science packs is usually my final step. This is pretty much what I do. I like to try different mods. Sometimes I start with an early start mod with robots, or not. With Bobs o...

Re: Are Bitters unnecessary?
As for "Bitters", I had some in England once. And I liked it, and found it somewhat necessary.
As for "Biters", I have that feature disabled. I prefer to play the game without them.

Forward is up, back is down, and Macs are [Moderated by Koub : unnecessary trolling]. (The last good Apple pc was an Apple 3. Or maybe the Apple LIsa.)
I find that the Logitech MX518 works best for me. I usually reprogram the button behind the wheel as a middle button click.

Re: Thoughts on the future Roadmap of Factorio
I never found this game hard. Unless you add Bobs or Angels to it. Or unless you add Lua. Which is an extremely horrible language. And extremely difficult for some of us older people who grew up writing machine code without an Assembler. (And liked it.) Which I would much rather do than program Lua....

I agree. If you show us 20 slots, let us use them. Or fix the display so only the 12 slots are shown.

Re: Crash after alt-tab
Because I have a built in Video card with it's own memory, I always run it with the power cord plugged in. I never run it on battery power. All settings when plugged in are set to maximum performance. Also the laptop is set to always use the Video Card instead of the built-in graphics processor. Sin...

Re: Module Production: To beacon or not to beacon?
I guess it depends on how you play the game. Vanilla, with some mods, with big mods like Bobs and Angels. For Vanilla or with simple mods I have found beacons to be useful. In my recent play through with Bobs mods, (and a few others,) I found I never needed Beacons. With the added tiers of machines,...

I have an error with Bob's Power. "Error in assign ID ... heat-pipe-2 does not exist. Source: burner-reactor-2 (recipe)" Edit: It looks like when 'Burner and oil powered heat sources' is unchecked in the settings, the mod will not load the 'heat-pipe-2' items and recipes. I had to comment ...

Now we have an empty spot where the mining tool was. That would be a perfect place for a roboport indicator.

Put everything in a warehouse or storage shed and sort it later.
If you don't have mods, stick a few pieces of track down, one or more railroad cars. Instant warehouse.

Re: Make the changelog parser more lenient, please!
I have been using notepad++ for years and had to set it to utf-8 (without BOM) to edit html and javascript properly. So I haven't seen some of the issues others see. I believe the reason for the differences in how things are parsed versus in-game, is due to the different environments. The web page m...

Re: Keybinding issues (when remapping keys in OS)
Most if not all problems people are having can be fixed by using Autohotkey. Because I have problems on my mouse using the middle mouse button, I was able to remap an unused key combination to the middle mouse button so I could use the new quickbar easier. In doing that, I found that some of the def...

Re: Friday Facts #259 - Scan-codes, Prototype IDs, HR worm
A quick google search showed that apparently the Steam Controller does send scan codes. Which does make sense. To maintain maximum compatiblity with pc's that evolved from the original IBM computers, it is best to use scan codes for devices that emulate or replace keyboard functions. So you should n...

Re: Why LCTRL, RCTRL, but CONTROL?
I suspect the reason for Lctrl and Rctrl is because the game looks at the scan codes and the developers probably used the names as defined in the original IBM PC and AT documentation. For most people the distinction is not needed and I do not recall ever seeing the need to do this at the user level ...
