Steam cloud failing a lot this last week
I noticed that my Factorio games have been failing the after-game steam cloud sync a lot *this last week*, even when I leave the computer and steam on and waiting for a long time. I know this is common in large maps (I have been playing Factorio for many years), but this is *recent* and is happening...

Re: factorio on Microsoft Surface tablet with windows 11?
Thank you. I just installed 1.0 on the tablet (0.18 was not available) and it works perfectly.
Next I will Google how to transfer the map save files, bring the files over, upgrade the maps to 1.0, transfer the maps back and upgrade them to the current version.
I do feel safer doing it this way.

factorio on Microsoft Surface tablet with windows 11?
I need to install Factorio 0.18 to migrate my old maps but I don't want to risk my main computer Factorio setup. I am thinking of installing it on a Surface tablet with Bluetooth keyboard and mouse setup. Is it likely to work even if it turns out to be sluggish? All I plan to do is migrate the maps ...

Re: Bad balancer
And an even better "everything" (both input and output) lane balancer. - This one is more compact. - Works for 1 or 2 belts. - The piece from the splitter down that is just under and touching the underground belt is a 1 or 2 belt input-balanced lane balancer. - The piece from that same spl...

Re: Bad balancer
Hurray! It worked! Here is an example with 4 wagons, 2 input-balanced lane balancers followed by 1 output-balanced lane balancer... resulting in a full belt while keeping the wagon output equal. (NOTE: I also have the Even Distribution mod installed, I'm not sure if that is also helping) https://i.i...

Re: Bad balancer
Also, I'm not sure why you're trying to re-lane-balance half of your throughput. I don't think what you have should be causing problems, but it isn't a lane balancer, as you can see if you pull items off the output belt here:not-a-balancer.png The 1-to-2 lane balancers next to your inserters are co...

Bad balancer
Hello, I can't figure out what is wrong with this belt balancer. It ends up pulling more from one source than the other and eventually that will mess up my trains. Could somebody help? In case it is relevant the rail piece on the left is an unloader from the Bulk Rail Loader mod, effectively a large...

Re: Loading worlds from before 0.18?
Load and re-save them in 0.18 to upgrade them. If you have any really old games, you may have to do this more than once (0.14 to 0.16 to 0.18, for example), but I'd expect 0.18 to read at least back to 0.16, and probably 0.15 as well. I have no problem with the concept of doing in steps (0.16 to 0....

Loading worlds from before 0.18?
I came back after quite a few years and I have several 0.16 and 0.17 worlds, and Factorio says that it can't read stuff older than 0.18. It would be great to upgrade them to the current version even if they broke, but I'd love to at least be able to view them. Is there any way to do it? Maybe throug...

As DaveMcW indicated, it is to save on power. The setup used keeps things spotted with minimal power consumed.slippycheeze wrote: ↑Wed Jul 21, 2021 8:57 amYou mentioned not playing for a long while, but on the off chance: I'm curious why the radars are limited by the circuit network to only run intermittantly?

Re: Friday Facts #366 - The only way to go fast, is to go well!
LOL, I haven't played factorio in over a year but I could not resist replying when I saw the topic. And I do plan to return to the game soon. I have been designing applications for decades and my version of "The only way to go fast, is to go well!" is "Slow down! Because I am in a hur...

Major changes over the last 1.5 years?
I love factorio but I noticed that I have not played since Nov 2019 (probably before the release of v1.0) and I was considering coming back. The most important question of course is what are the biggest changes in that time, in particular any things that significantly change how the game is played. ...

Re: Bulldog Main Line
I have not played factorio for quite a while but I am very glad that people are finding this blueprint and its derivatives as useful as I did.
I am definitely going to have to get back to the game.

Re: Bulldog 1: A solid Startup Base to build your main base.
Using this base for the third time now. I love it. It's the little things and attention to detail that really impress me. This quote from The Fountainhead came to mind, in which a client is speaking to Roark, the architect who designed his house: And, incidentally, thank you for all the thought you...

Re: Bulldog 1: A solid Startup Base to build your main base.
Thanks for the great design of this factory. Very fun. BTW: Factorio release 0.17.60 broke the v3 freedom mall: Blue science now requires a sulfur input instead of a solid fuel input. Rocket fuel now requires an additional input: light oil. I have been playing something else, but when I get back to...

Re: Bulldog: Automatic Power Manager for factory lines
Yes you can fix the problem by removing wires, it would just be nice to have the option to mark a pole as 'do not automatically connect here, manual connections only.' Or I can learn to leave enough room :D So true. Being able to ensure that things don't auto-connect is often one of the very few re...
