If I had access to the wiki, I would prolly delete every reference to buffer systems, belt lane swappers and rebalancers, and rail loops designs. Ooooooooooh. Those inserters. Well now I feel stupid. Yeah, those are kinda needed for any design... actually, now that I think about it, you could have miners directly feeding boilers without inserters. That kinda limits the placement of power systems to "directly on top of coal patches" ...

There are ways of providing backup steam power without any use of inserters, combinators, or even colored wire. Such a system would even faster and more responsive to power demands.

Post 0.12 update: I reran these tests with the new 0.12 inserter mechanics and the results are that 2 rows of long inserters is exactly the same speed as 1 row of fast inserters. There is now no longer any benefit to having 2 rows of reds. It had a good run, while it lasted.

A side note: if you launch another rocket after entering sandbox mode from death after launching a rocket, your launch counter resets to 1, and counts up from there after each subsequent launch.

I was rather confused when I was suddenly in sandbox mode, so I narrowed it down until I figured out what was causing it.

I found a work around before I saw the reply. I replaced control.lua from a 0.12 save file into the broken save and that worked.

My megabase save, that has been through the scenario editor, and has been played on multiplayer, can't load.

I have found that, through extensive experimentation, water storage has minimal utility, and is incredibly inefficient when it comes to space.
