Loops are completely unnecessary, as are the loop-based junctions. There are no non-loop tutorials out there though, so everyone uses loops.... Well, except those of us that spend a lot of time on twitch.tv

Fine... this is the factory that actually created them: http://i.imgur.com/zpB4b3a.png I suppose you also want to see the rail system... http://i.imgur.com/0Pn72R4.png This is where my main factory used to be: http://i.imgur.com/hjB0JIc.png There used to be a main buss there. The belts were causing ...

Re: aliens, xenos, biters,... what is their name? really

A quick google of native gave both the noun and adjective definitions. Also, adjectives can become nouns.

Re: Let's see your clever builds

That is the 4-way intersection that I use mostly on my megabase (if you consider 4RDPH a megabase). They have jammed exactly once in the last 100+ hours of gameplay since I installed them, and they have a respectable throughput. If the trains traveling through don't cross paths, they don't even slow...

Re: 1 science pack / second

You are going to have problems with providing the smart inserter assembly machine with enough green circuits. You may want to consider several, and yes, gonna need a LOT of green circuits. I also recommend having several oil industries, instead of trying to have a massive one that provides 2 product...

Super compact modular destroyer capsule factory:
splat
It needs 1 more defender capsule factory somewhere in the system to run at full speed. This is MK2 of the design, and I always improve my builds.

I'd like to think I have sufficiently refined the concept.

Re: My Iron and Copper system, with buffer

Buffer systems are highly overrated. True mastery of this game (and life) comes from balance. With balance one can achieve enlightenment. Seek balance, and avoid things which mask balance, such as buffer systems and storage tanks. Just some advice from somebody that has played this game for thousand...

Re: Compact scalable factory setup for keeping items in stock

This is super interesting, but seems to be trumped by modular factories after logistics bots. I may use this design for a challenge that has been given me :) Best of luck to you.

Re: Challenge: belt balancers

I'll start by throwing in an old design of mine, too 8-) Those are line balancers, not belt balancers. Two belts is literally the easiest design to "belt balance".... can be done with a single splitter with no turns. If I can banish one design in this game forever, it is that line reblanc...

Re: Analog Circuits - Advanced power systems

The stream engines consume 6 water/s, and pumps push or allow a max of 30 water/s. With the 'subtractor' pump fully powered, no water should ever make it to the boilers. The tank should always remain at a steady 15C unless you've screwed something up. Go ahead and try it :) I have noticed that upon ...

Re: Analog Circuits - Advanced power systems

It is actually a unique attribute of storage tanks. You can completely starve out the other output pipes if you have a pump pulling directly from the tank. I've designed systems for oil before using this mechanic to preferentially send oil products to certain things and only send them out the other ...
