Re: Train/Station management issue
Iām going to guess that the trainās schedule is A, B, C. With Enable/Disable, the train SKIPS whatever stations are disabled. So, regardless of what it was doing, it goes to C (the one that is Enabled) when you turn C on and A+B off. Assuming my guess is correct, it goes to A first because its the n...

Re: Force Steam engine to charge Accumulators
While this does not address your concern, you might want to invest in flamethrower turrets as your primary defense keeping the lasers as the secondary line (to kill whatever gets past the flamethrowers). Or mix in regular turrets as those only get red ammo and not power.

Re: Nuclear Reactor Copy-Recipe Wrong
Besides, copying a machine to a requestor has the requestor seek what, 30 seconds of ingredients? Nuclear fuel cell lasts 200 seconds. Would it even request anything if you could copy/paste it?

Re: Are the impact ratios of the three variables in the map resource generator 1k-1k-1k=? (Frequency-Width-Richness)
RNG is a factor. Frequency * Size * Richness = Resources available. So long as you come out to the same Resources amount, then in the game, the total Resources on the map should be the same. But, RNG is a huge caveat : Water overwrites ores. Placement is random. The map is HUGE, 2,000,000x2,000,000 ...

Re: Way to stop trains from stopping when stations goes disabled
If you have one train servicing several resupply stations, you can safely use Enable/Disable on the resupply stations as long as the supply station you load the train at is always on. NEVER turn that supply station off. If you are using multiple trains to service those resupply stations, then do NOT...

I could see such a thing being āstart-stopā under certain flow conditions. Iād rather have āalways on, smooth flowā.

Re: Alt-F4 #60 - Burning Questions
Reminds me of the years old thread here, asking the question how much energy can you get from a blue belt of coal.
Nice to see that the answer has not changed (solid fuel is best in terms of energy gains).

Re: Newb stuck on a train automation with liquids
The train starts at Refinery station, automatically moves to Oil Wells, loads up with crude oil, and then runs back to Refinery, without issue to that point? Would definitely need screenshots; of the layout, of the Refinery station (whatever you call the unloading station for this particular train),...

Re: When will the new DLC be released?
Work on the expansion is still the top priority for the team, and controller support is no easy task, so if it comes to Factorio, expect it much later this year. "Sometime this year" is a reasonable deduction from the above snippet. And given controller support would take time for develop...

Re: Furnace internal buffer
Honestly, that internal buffer is NOT something to worry about. It is the beltās throughput that is the concern here. And that yellow belt can only move 15 items/sec. It takes 48 stone furnaces to turn a full yellow belt of iron/copper ore into a full yellow belt of iron/copper plate. If you have th...

Re: Support separating of logistics networks
My solution would be trains.
If one train is supplying the āstarterā defense port, that train can also be sent to other defense ports as needed, just by using rail (and its accompanying stuff, signals and stops etc).

Re: How often do you redesign/redo your factories?
IMO, never tear something down until its replacement is up and running. You are limited to what has already been produced (and I hat you hand craft) if you tear a production facility/line down before building its replacement. On the other hand, if you build the replacement first, hook it up (and dis...

Re: What starting settings does everyone use?
Minimum frequency for resources, but I like to bump their size and richness up; I want a few good patches rather than a lot of lesser patches. I always bump both water settings to the maximum. I leave biter expansion on (which is turned off by railworld default) but TBH I donāt find them much of a t...

Re: Alt-F4 #57 - Nuclear Energy and You
Nuclear is only scary until you dive into the numbers and start building itā¦ I understand why you chose to do the 3x3 reactor setup, to best demonstrate the SRE diagramming. I just hope others realize that 1040 MW is not the highest amount of heat possible to be generated from 8 reactors being autom...

Re: Best oil for flame towers?
Flamethrower Towers are deadly enough with Crude Oil, that I find it wasteful to use Light Oil on them. Go for it if you want to through. But you are missing out on petroleum and heavy oil that way. It's wasteful to run crude on them, since crude could be reprocessed into something more useful. :D ...

Re: Yellow inserters wonāt insert iron ore if furnace and belt are full of coal
Or remove the Coal from the Furnace so the Inserter can have some place to deposit the Coal it has in hand.
Personally, having run into that issue multiple times myself, I make it a habit to insert half stacks rather than full stacks when using furnace columns to drop off excess coal or smeltables.
